Chapter 53: Job Application

3rd Person POV

*Flashback to when Leilah first met Perseus/Loki*

"He can lucid dream, hmm, impressive." Leilah commented as she head over to Perseus

He was just laying there is peace, he looked no older than a 10 year old, but Leilah can sense it from him, the feeling of both wanting to die and the feeling of being close to death many times.

It doesn't look like he's malnourished nor does he look like he's suffering for violent abuse from his parents. She met a lot of people, and she's seen it all, some of them died right after her visit, young, old...people experienced so many sad things in life that led them to the verge of death of being depressed enough to just want to end it.

She personally hope that she doesn't have to meet people like this, she tried to turn their life around, but at the end of the day, lucid dream or not, to them, she's just a fictional woman that doesn't really exist.

"Hey there, what are you doing?" she stood over him and bend over a bit to make eye contact.

His eyes fluttered opened and once he meets her eyes, he turned away.

"You're...not going away." he muttered

"Of course, I'm real after all."

"Am I finally dead?"

"Why would you think that?"

"I can lucid dream, and I don't think I would dream of a woman with your appearance...are you death?"

"Unfortunately, I am not, but why would you want to end your life?"

"I never mentioned that." Loki replied weakly "How'd you...know?"

"I just know, so can I know why?"

"You're death, aren't you? Just end me, I've got nothing to live for."

"Ok, so I am, but I need to know why." Leilah replied

She can kill someone mentally, but across worlds? It's much harder and will take a lot of effort, even if it's a child, but even then, she is curious, the longer she lived the more children she sees.

This other world of heroes are full of bright people, life for the young are supposedly easier, but sometimes the expectations of the older generation, and a hard life for those who belong to the bottom class causes stress and she can't even count how many young people are just that depressed.

And that's just a small of portion of a bigger puzzle, you have abused children and many other, no one is safe for these thoughts. And some of those who are on the verge of death actually learned the value of life and moved on, but the boy in front of her...he's already given up, he just wants peace.

"I don't know." Loki said "I've got no purpose, I barely have days that I don't feel pain or not being forced to do things they want, I just want to...die."

"Life isn't just dark things, what about friends?" Leilah asked "What about relatives, do you not have anyone to seek help?"

"I have no one." he answered "I don't even have a name, it's forgotten, my parents are probably dead, if you are a merciful spirit or whatever...just give me my peace.

"Where have you been?! We've searched all over for you." Maple exclaimed "Even the roses searched all over."

"I was on the moon, like the literal moon. Father put me there since I was the strongest." Leilah replied

"Do you know where our parents is?"

"I can't say for sure." Leilah lied and shook her head "Weren't you gods the last to see them? You're our stronger and younger siblings after all."

"I don't know, they've just disappeared without a word." Maple sighs "I was hoping that you do, you're among the eldest."

"I wish I did, but I guess we're all in the same predicament, they've just disappeared and we have no way to know."

"Can you detect death? Like I mean, 'their' death?" Maple asked

"No, I haven't sensed it yet, a death of a god is when they lost the will to live, I would be the first and you the second to know if that ever happen."

They both then went on to discuss a bit and catch up before Perseus came and told them that they'll be going to Zoris the next day and went off to train for the day. Maple bid her sisters farewell as she returned to her home.

To the children of the 2 primordial gods, the disappearance of their parents always baffled them, Leilah has finally pinpointed their location for the first time, but the fact that her parents abandoning them without a word is strange, she remembered her mother, she was warm(both metaphorically and literally) and adopted them like they were her own, the guardians of the rose only manifested when she implanted her powers into the roses.

The 5 gods were then born...though one seems to not get along with others, and their relationship drifted even further apart once their only link that was their parents disappeared.

Perseus POV

I woke up the next day, train, shower and then leave for Zoris. I'd rather leave Leilah at the tree and let my parents get to know her more, but Rowan will sense my tattoo and will want to ask me where she is, so either he'll freak out and everyone else knows or he'll know and will even keep it a secret even from the lord that has his powers.

So we journeyed to Zoris and went to the academy and with my letter as proof, they let me in to see grandpa Laker.

He's about the same age as my other grandparents, 174cm tall, has grey hair with grey eyes.

"You've grown." he commented "You've definitely look like your moms combined."

"Uh yeah, they're my parents."

"I assumed you're here to accept the application, are your 2 companions also applying as my assistant, if they are, only you have to pass and I can let them join in."

"No, I'm only here to try because my parents really insisted, so where's the testing room."

I just intend on annoying their HR, did you seriously think I will become a teacher's assistant for heroes who may or may not be my enemies in the future?

Like yes, I will surely and willingly help my future potential enemies, I'm just here to do the test and leave.
