Chapter 181: Urgess Family (5)

Perseus POV

So for today, I'll be going ahead to join the fricking auction, apparently, it's a 2 day thing and today is the first day where the demon representatives and human representatives are coming and be meeting in the same place. And so, that's why I'm separating from the rest of my family as they explore around.

I only brought Buddy with me as my partner in crime as I let Leilah and Ruka help guard the rest of my family, I even called Healer Beek over as a "Guard" which is what he thinks is the job I'm assigning him, he's the bait for my family to throw to the wolves or to heal them if they encounter certain injuries.

Yes, it bypasses the number of people my moms allowed me to assign to them, but he is more healer than guard and when it comes down to it...I lost the debate, cuz no normal child can win an argument against their parents using any facts or logic, but the guy wanted to come to watch me fight anyway on behalf of the village, so he's here, he wasn't here earlier cuz he needed to find someone to fill in his spot at work.

Should be fun as the tension is up in the air as they try to outbid each other or raise the price on purpose to make it expensive for the other side, and Rolan's family is the one that's hosting it.

And even though they're hosting and are in charge of the auction, this is one of the times when even their discrimination of demons can't allow them to kick out demon consumers since they have to abide by the Tehios law of anti-discrimination. Tehios seems pretty cool, I've blended in quite well with my part human and part demon body.

Like this is amazing, no strange looks or anything if they don't recognize me, which is new to me cuz it's usually at my village where I don't get strange looks, I'd probably live here if I didn't have a home at my village since it's much more secure over there as the village is pretty much located in a place where I have no worries about national disasters or invasion.

Anyway, I arrived at the site, signed myself in and managed to finesse my way into getting a box seat, and by finessing, I mean, I use my 'persuasive' talking ability on the employees and their managers until they gave me one. It feels great sitting in a place on top and overlooking everyone sitting in the common seats.

This must be what the nobles feel like every time they look at people like me, feels like I'm superior...don't worry guys, I'm not letting all these thoughts take over me, I'm mostly joking. it's going to be about 2 hours till it starts as people are going around making connections and all that stuff.

But I've already run out of my social battery, so I'm just gonna stay here and play with my fox and wait till the event start where I see people wasting millions and millions of bels on useless items from the other side.

But just when I think I can go until the event start without talking with anyone, I made eye contact with Edward who arrived at his box seat at the opposite side of the site where he waved at me.

"Ah Lloyd, the adopted guy."

"You recognize me?" he raised an eyebrow

We have, when I was Persia, and if anyone is wondering, yes, Persia have been sent a lot of letters inviting her for tea, engagement letters and everything, I'm more popular than I think as a girl.

"Of course, a guy adopted into the royal family or whatever is going to be famous, one of the youngest royal guards, smart and decent looking, blah blah blah, so what do y'all want?"

"He just wanted to meet with you and talk with you, he's been asking for you, but between his time at the academy and yours doing whatever you do, we've never managed to arrange for you to have a proper conversation." Edward replied "So, I'm gonna go now, have fun you two."

Bruh, you're gonna leave me with him, I barely know the guy, it's going to be awkward, I hate awkward situations. He's like the stern and serious type, so my funny outgoing façade is going to go away quick if he doesn't laugh and lose any brain cells in our conversation.

And it sure was, the guy doesn't take it that way as he kept asking questions about my life up till now the whole time until the event started, the hour felt like it tripled.

"So there are speculation that you have joined the demon's side, is that true?" he asked

"Are you a journalist now? No, I plan on rejecting their great offer."

"Great offer? You actually like their deal?"

"Yup, no sane person wouldn't reject the offer if it's offered to them."

"You would rick your relations with our kingdom and join the other side?"

"Obviously, the position of demon general? I'm being offered guaranteed power with authority only below 1 person who is the strongest individual in the world."

"Didn't we counteroffer with the position of vice commander? Have you thought about it?" he asked "Uncle Edward said that, unlike the demons, we didn't place a time limit, are you accepting ours while rejecting the demons' offer?"

"You're originally from our village, you should know why we appreciate neutrality, it's one of the reasons why we've been alive for so long, Paradis was a smart guy to instill these teachings to future chiefs, we need to stay out of conflict, and that's what I'm gonna do."

"Although you imply that you want to stay out of conflict, why do you involve yourself in this war so much then? You have been bulking yourself and training to prepare yourself for something, you're clearly planning to be somewhat involved, and if war happens, wouldn't you, a third party be everyone's common enemy?"

"So you're a smartass now? Let's just enjoy the auction and see if we wanna buy anything?"
