Chapter 210: The Right Fool

Perseus POV

Lilith and Leilah cast a giant barrier to seal everyone in, meaning that there are now no escapees, and are all forced to fight if they want any chance of escaping. These guys are experienced as well, and they worked well as a unit, but that was no problem with using shadows, I pulled them in and let them pop out somewhere else.

Sometimes I see that they charged up a spell as I sunk em into the shadows, so I pop em back out in the same spot, causing them to unintentionally attack their own allies causing chaos in the group. The disorder gave me time to just charge in and kill them with my sword.

I can't really fight every one of them with a good chance of winning, but the 3 who are with me are around the 10-star level or stronger, so they're more than enough to just make up for my own lack of strength. Leilah and Lilith are off to do their own thing individually and Ruka partnered up with me.

The fortress was crumbling down by the minute as spells from both sides and I destroyed every magic crystal I found on the way, I don't care who is watching, but I want them to stop. I think I am soaked in blood as I fought mostly with my sword, if someone shoots a spell at me, I cut it or hit it with the flat side of my blade and hit them away. It's just one of the perks of possessing a sword made of one of the greatest materials on the planet.

But I'm searching for that stupid prince, he's clearly their weakest link along with Sheila, they would throw away the lives of everyone else as long as it guarantees their own, and I've never seen a person with mana that loose in their body.

A person's mana density varies from one person to another and that is what determines the quality of mana of a person, the denser, the purer, and better, making it more powerful. But that's not what determines how strong a person is, what does depends on how compact the magic is in their body.

If you inject mana into your eyes and look at a person, you can see only bright lights in the figure of a human, but you can see how fast mana moves in their body and see how many gaps in between mana there are, the more gaps there are, the more loose a person's mana is, meaning that they suck at controlling mana. People usually don't inject their own eyeballs with mana if they aren't somewhat adept at controlling their mana, it could explode their own eyeballs or at worst hurt their own brain in the process and kill themselves.

My village's method of teaching people to control magic was to make children condense mana into a ball shape in the palm of their hands without any tools, it's a much harder training method, but it helps turn a person's mana more dense and compact, creating a better foundation.

Others, use tools to make things easier and slowly rely on them less and less over time, but this guy...once I saw him... he was a mess, he got this stupid enchanted wand out, and he relies on his wand to shoot out spells, which means he can't control mana properly, I wonder what kind of wonder meds he took, cuz I can't believe he's around the 8-star level.

"Stay back!" he shouted as his wand started crackling with electricity "Don't make me kill you, Perseus Silver."

"You were going to anyway, if my brother was truly captured, you would have killed him."

He then shot out a large lightning bolt at me, which I simply dodge by sinking into the shadows and appearing from right behind him, he sensed that and turned to me, I just used my sword to slice his arm, and it went through his arm like butter, I also used my sword to cut his wand midair.

He tried to distance himself with a simple wind spell, but without his wand, a spell that should be cast instantly for him took a couple seconds. I just cast several fireballs and shot them after him, he tried to cast a barrier, and it worked but a couple fireballs were faster than his casting speed, so they flew past the barrier and hit him in the face.

Luckily he had this necklace that projects a thin layer of barrier around his head to protect it, but the explosion caused him to stop putting up the barrier, so I shoot out dozens of fireballs at him repetitively, it took a while, but his necklace broke and the spell made direct contact with his face till the brink of death, I then healed him a bit just to make sure he doesn't die when I leave to fight everyone else.

3rd Person POV

"I did not expect that." Rolan commented as he watched the fight "Illusion...he definitely is the reincarnation of Loki...dammit, he might have actually died if those guys did their work and actually captured his little brother, no wonder this bastard was so calm...

"I doubt that he remembers what happened in his past life, but I think I'll just stop this and leave this stuff to Morris and pit him against Cain in the future..."

Rolan then destroys the magic crystal that he used to watch the fight and erased all traces of him. Morris and Rick destroy them from their end too, the only ones left watching were Drake and Pike who already had a sneaking suspicion that Perseus would come out alive somehow.

"Well, that failed spectacularly." Pike commented, "Can't believe your sister volunteered to be used in such a position though."

"Well, I didn't either." Drake sighs "But Ruka chose the right one, we should take out our bounty after a while, we don't have enough incentives as of now."

"Why not do it tomorrow?"

"Too early, too suspicious. Let's just end this show, Sheila was indeed the right fool to use."
