Chapter 306: Me (7)

Perseus POV

"So you're saying that I either am fated to save the world by eliminating the demon lord and the other threats or I'll become a demon lord and destroy everything?"

"No," he shook his head, "To destroy the world...you'll become something worse than the demon lord, and even if you do save the world, your journey there...you won't be hailed as a hero, that's for sure."

"Cool..."

"Cool?!" Ruka exclaimed, "Are you right in the head? From what he's saying, you could be something that's worst than the stories they say about Lilith, no offense."

"None taken," Lilith shrugged, "I'm quite flattered actually."

"As I've said, only most of us," Perseus 2 pointed out, "I got one adopted daughter from a timeline where everything's destroyed, not necessarily because of us, it's just that we failed to stop it."

Fate had a twisted sense of humor, it seemed. Here I was, among the infinite versions of Perseus Silvers, I may be destined to be the savior or destroyer of my world, and yet, even if I become the savior with a somewhat heroic triumph, I wouldn't be hailed as a hero.

|I tried using Triumph, hopefully, it makes sense.|

I couldn't help but chuckle as I envisioned the absurdity of it all. The mighty protagonist is left standing in the rubble of victory with no praise or credit given. It was like being the lead in a blockbuster movie but getting paid in expired coupons. Not exactly the glamorous life of a protagonist I had envisioned. I mean I don't necessarily hate it, but it's still funny.

I had sacrificed lives, manipulated others for my own gain, and made choices driven by self-preservation rather than selflessness.

I'm not like pure like people similar to Edward...they understood that heroism wasn't just about achieving a noble goal. It was about the purity of intent and the selfless actions taken along the way. I've done noble things, but not with pure intent, and to achieve those goals, I sacrificed a lot, not something a hero would do.

I had strayed far from that ideal moral path, and the world would know it. The people I had hurt, the lives I had shattered...hah, that's funny.

"You don't look discouraged." Perseus 2 commented.

"What about you? Are you respected?"

"Only in the kingdom where I'm living in, I did a lot, but...the dangers I've faced weren't necessarily dangers that anyone would know about. For example, if I fight a god, no one would know of the feat, I don't use my own world as the battleground, so what I do remained a mystery."

"You're hated?"

"Not necessarily, I got guys vouching for me." he shook his head, "But I got a criminal past."

"Like destroying someone mentally and then you go to prison after they sue you for emotional damage kind of criminal?"

"Nah, I've killed tens of thousands of people." he casually admitted.

The small smile on his face, it's scary, to say the least. I know that he's good, but I now don't want to know how good. What kind of guy talks about fighting a god as an example?

He's either from a world much stronger than ours, or he's from one where gods aren't that strong. Either way, I wouldn't risk fighting him.

"And how did a princess marry you again?"

"I don't know either, I just asked if she was single one time, she teased me about it and eventually, she somehow became my wife."

"Sounds like a novel title for some romcom if I ever heard one."

"Yeah, 'that time I asked a princess if she was single, she then teased me about it till she eventually become my wife.'."

"What kind of title is that?" Mom Nyra asked, "No one would buy those kinds of novels."

"You wish." Perseus 2 countered, "They always end up being adapted into comics and get millions of views somehow."

Perseus 2 returned to Vince's room later that day where I saw Buddy playing with the sword spirit, it seems like they get along. And after enough time, Vince woke up and he was first staring at everything blankly before he then turned to Perseus 2.

I shouldn't worry too much, Vince's memory is still there, so it's not like he'll change much, but what if it goes wrong? What if he only inherit Lucifer's dark thoughts as they merged?

Perseus 2 then inspected him and asked simple check-up questions before turning the girl into a sword and putting him to sleep again before he closed his eyes again to enter Vince's dream to check before he awoke again with a somewhat satisfied face.

"I'll wait downstairs, I'll leave after you're satisfied." Perseus 2 said and left us 2 alone in the room before casting this barrier to keep our conversation from leaking.

"Well, are you Vince or Lucifer?"

"I'm both." Vince answered, "But...I'll continue being Vincent Silver."

"When you say that we'll be brothers fate sure took it quite literally, huh?"

"I don't know what you're talking about. But my current life isn't bad, my parents died and I'm adopted by your family, my previous parents sold me, and that also led me to meet you, I guess that our lives are intertwined."

In front of me, I saw my friend and my brother standing before me, and a wave of gratitude and relief washed over me. They had saved my life once. Without hesitation, I rushed forward, arms outstretched, and embraced them tightly as I'm eternally grateful.

As we stood there, locked in that heartfelt hug, time seemed to stand still. I knew that our bond was unbreakable, forged through shared experiences...

"Thank you."

"You're welcome, older brother." he replied.

Though I may never be hailed as a hero, though my parents will never be told of what I truly am, I now know that there's one more person apart from the girls that I can confide in, I'll still keep some secrets though.

"Well, what do you wanna do first after this? Wanna eat some breakfast food for dinner?"

"Yeah, I'd like some hash." he replied.
