Chapter 413: Blackmailed

Perseus POV

Fuck, the more I hear it, the worse it gets, the woman is getting beaten from the other side, but I can't reveal myself, the heroes are abnormally strong now since they're all here together, I'm more likely to die before I can take any one of them down.

These walls are thin, which means that the bartender knew about this...shit, this isn't what I signed up for. I then rushed to the bartender and used my Loki powers to whisper in his ears and told him not to scream or shout for help and force him to follow my commands.

I had him reveal everything to me.

"In the black market, they call me 'The Soul Merchant.'" he responded in a trance, "I specialize in procuring and supplying slaves, and I've gained quite a reputation for providing powerful, sentient beings, including demons, to the highest bidders."

|Soul merchant was a name I got from some generator, I do not know how to name this guy.|

The fuck! This is like the demon lord story all over again, the great blacksmith turned out to be some powerful slave merchant, fuck. This isn't the identity I want, I don't know how to do this job...

The bartender's shocking confession continued to unfold, revealing an even darker aspect of his dealings. He explained how he supplied demons, not only to the black market but also to a select group of nobles and even some of the heroes themselves.

It was a disturbing revelation...but I can use this...I can't kill this guy...I need him to expose the heroes...

The bartender then continued to speak about his deeds, he explained that many of the world's nobles and heroes were drawn to the idea of having demons as subservient beings, considering it a display of their power and dominance. It gave them a sense of superiority and control over otherworldly creatures, feeding their egos and bolstering their influence.

The bartender had become the go-to source for fulfilling these desires, procuring high-priced and rare demons for the town's elite. It was a lucrative business, and it also ensured his own safety, as he was closely entwined with those who held the power in the world.

Heck, he even supplied humans to the demons...2-in-1, I can use him to bring everyone's credibility down.

Rolan, it seemed, was a regular customer who had an alarming demand. He sought out female demons, and he did so frequently. The bartender went on to explain how Rolan's desire for female demons was not merely for servitude or display trophies, but he would use these unfortunate beings for his own pleasure and then discard them once he was done, treating them as mere objects rather than sentient beings.

He would come to the inn, make his purchases, and then later dispose of the demons in what he described as 'a ruthless and callous manner', if a slave trader or whatever he is described it as that, this is bad...like really bad. And it's been going on for all this time?!

I knew that he was bad, but this was just vile, Lilith could actually step in for this one and kill Rolan and the Bartender if I don't want to, no she'll volunteer, but I can't let her do that yet, I need to divide the heroes and let the demon lord win.

I'll then finish Lachlan off and explain to the demons that his power overwhelmed him and took over his mind or something so that I don't get hated by the demons.

The process went like this, Rolan would discreetly contact the bartender, often using a coded message or a signal, to initiate their business. He would provide detailed requirements for the type of female demons he desired, specifying their appearance, characteristics, and abilities.

The bartender, in turn, would scour the black market and use his connections to procure the specified demons, often resorting to coercion and illegal means. He would arrange for the acquisition, keeping the entire operation hidden from the eyes of the town's authorities.

Once the demons were obtained, the bartender would deliver them to Rolan, who would then carry out his plans. The exact details of what transpired afterward...well, it's happening in the next room.

I need to get Terrence and Mark on this, only they can somewhat save these women...and even if Rolan is confronted by them, he can't kill them, blackmail them at most, but...they'll stop Rolan and a lot of nobles from the business, I can't stop this business, but I can deter others from participating in it.

*****

"Hey Greg, what do you-" Terrence couldn't finish his sentence as I put a cloth that was laced with a potion to knock him out and bring him over, I did the same with Mark and brought them over in the middle of the night.

Their face was priceless once they woke up and saw me instead of the bartender, I showed them their Greg and then isolated the sounds in our room.

"Why are you here?" Mark asked, "Do you have a death wish?"

"Yeah, and why Greg?" Terrence asked

"First, listen to this and listen to it carefully."

I then let them hear the noises, the demon's noise is a bit quiet now, but you can still hear it, the hits and the other stuff that I'm not going to describe. I then isolated it back and quickly described everything that the bartender did and is doing while Rolan is a regular customer of his.

"Oh wow, that's not what a hero should do." Mark commented, "How can we help?"

"Intervene, obviously." Terrence retorted, "Demons may be our enemy and we may be at war, but we still shouldn't harm civilians, and what he's doing is disgusting."

Perfect replacement for Bob jr or Isfrid or whatever the hell he is, this guy has some brains and morals in him.

"One of you can just knock on his door and say that you couldn't sleep due to the noise, and since the town has some sort of death sensor, he can't kill them in the town. Greg said someone named Jamie helps him with the disposal, I'll save this person at their meeting spot, heck, I'll capture Rolan there and make my escape then."
