chapter 2: Suggestion

" I'm coming!" Agatha answered from inside the room.

She hastened her steps as the door bell kept ringing loudly but to her surprise, when she opened the door she saw no one. All she saw was a bouquets of roses and a box designed with ribbon.

She picked it up from the doorpost and shut the door.

" What's that?" Yolanda asked before strolling towards the sofa.

"It's has your name on it and I think it's from Desmond" Aggie said with disgust. She threw the box at Yolanda angrily.

"You said you weren't seeing him Yolanda! Then why did he send you flowers and gifts? How did he know our house?"

"I don't know, I didn't ask him to send me any of this and I wasn't lieing when I said I wasn't seeing him! Believe me Aggie" She replied sincerely.

" Open it and let's see what it's says!" Aggie yelled at her.

Yolanda nodded quickly before opening the box. She saw a beautiful blue dinner gown inside it with a note placed on it. She took it and read it out loud for her friend.

"I would love if you would attend the party with me and also wear the dress! I will come get you Yoyo, Love Desmond."

She couldn't believe her ears! How did he know her house? Why did he kept calling her Yoyo! And what love was he taking about!.

" Aggie, I didn't know what he was talking about. I…"

"You should go, And do what I asked you to" Agatha interrupted rudely.

Yolanda sigh, she didn't know how her relationship with her friend turned sour suddenly. And why Desmond was complicating things for her.

She stood up silently and began to get dressed, she doesn't want to go against Agatha not because she couldn't but because Agatha has been more than a friend to her ever since she took her away from the hell she was living in.

After hours, she finally got dressed and was looking at herself in the mirror. She applied a light make up on, and a red heels with a red purse all to complement her outfit.

At the same time, a hunk was heard outside their house. Yolanda ran towards the window, she saw him standing outside elegantly dressed in a suite.

" He's here! Go for it" Aggie grabbed her hand and pierce through her skin with her nails. " Don't you dear do anything funny"

"Stop Aggie! You're hurting me." She took her arm from her before heading out of the room quickly.

She approached him with a red puffy eyes.

"Hi" Desmond smiled at her but when he saw blood trickling down her arm, the smile on his face disappeared and he ran towards her.

"Yoyo! You're hurt!" He brought out his handkerchief from his pocket quickly and starts to wipe off the blood slowly.

Yolanda's eyes never left his face. If this would have been on a different circumstances, then she would say apart from her best friend, he's another person who cares about him.

" It's nothing,I scratched myself that's all" She withdraw her hand from him and looked away.

" Then you should be careful! Okay" He gave her a smile.

" Shall we go already" She interupetd coldly.

Ignoring her attitude towards him, he gave her a nod before opening the door for her. He turned around and went to the drivers seat before he kicked start the car and zoomed off.

" Can you tell me about yourself" Desmond finally broke the ice.

" There's nothing that would interest you about me" She replied looking outside through the window.

" Try me"

" why did you invite me for the party?"

" I wanted to know you more and I want us to be friends or maybe more than a friend" He reached for her hand but she avoided his touch.

" I don't want to be your friend or more than! I don't like keeping male friends. I think my friend would fit into that for you"

After all Agatha loves him, she thought to herself.

"Yoyo, Are you alright? You can tell me" Desmond knew from when he saw her with a red eyes and the wound then how she's pushing him away from her and how she's constantly bringing up her best friend every now and then in their conversation, gave him no doubt that something was off.

"Nothing I can't handle" She avoided his gaze.

They finally arrived at the party and Yolanda was grateful for that. She came down from the car and shut her eyes, trying to caught her breath.

Desmond took her hand and they both walked into the party.

"Look who we have here! DA! I thought you won't be able to make it." Stephen gave him a hug. But he couldn't help but notice the beauty besides him.

" I really want to know man! Who's she?"

" She's my Date for the night although I would love for her to be more!" Desmond stared into her eyes, all he wanted was to have her.

"Interesting! Nice to meet you young lady" Stephen stretch out his hand for a shake.

" Same here. I'm Yolanda" She gave him a polite smile.

Stephen took Desmond by his hand and pulled him along with him, leaving Yolanda alone in the middle of the room.

Desmond's was speaking with some business partners but his eyes never left her direction. His mind was with her.

Suddenly, the light in the room became dime. And the spot light showed on Yolanda in the middle of the room. She looked around the room wondering why the lights went off but when she saw couples coming out holding each others hands then she knew it's was time to dance.

Desmond took one more sip of the red from his glass , he dropped it on a tray before walking towards her.

He didn't need to ask because he knew she would refuse instead he slide his hand around her waist and pulled her closer to his chest. He held her hand and began to sway gently to the soft music.

She stared Into his eyes for a while, but then she looked away when tears began to form at the corner of her eyes. She was thankful it's was dark and he couldn't see her face. The darkness covered her hurts.

When the music stopped, she finally looked up to him but then he caught her lips in his mouth and gave her a long sudden kiss. Making Yolanda held onto him and stood on her toes as she sucks in her breath.

She couldn't stop him and it's was just because she was enjoying the kiss as much as he does.

The light went on and everyone was in awe of the couple standing in the middle of the stage and kissing and smooching without a care in the world who was watching them.

Stephen was beaming with happiness. He knew he saw so much happiness and warmth in Desmond's eyes when he introduced her to him earlier. He gulped down his drink at a goal and smile.

"Finally!" He whispered.

He turned to the face the crowd. " Let's give it up for the couple of the night!"

Everyone gave a roaring applause.

Yolanda pushed him away from her slightly and looked at everyone's happy face. She looked at his face and then looked away shyly before running towards the bathroom.

Desmond ran after her, afraid he has done something wrong by kissing her.

She shut the door of the bathroom and rested her back to it. Shortly after, she began to hear the door banging. Then came the voice of the man who she has been trying to get ride of, she just hope it's a dream.

" Yoyo! I'm sorry, I should have asked for your permission I'm so sorry. Don't be mad at me" He leaned into the door, his head facing the floor as he spoke softly.

" Desmond, my best friend Aggie loves you. She wants to be with you" She bite her lips and continued. " Please give her a chance, It's would make me happy"

" Open the damn door now!" He yelled and twisted the door knob continuously and angrily.

She opened the door slowly stepping away from the entrance. Desmond badged in and slammed the door.

He walked towards her and traped her to the wall angrily.

" Are you setting me up with your friend? Is that the reason why you have been acting cold towards me! Because of her?" He lifted her chin up to face him and continued.

" I know who I have feelings for! I Know who I want to be with, I know what I felt when I kissed you and don't you dare lie to me you don't feel the same because you kissed me back passionately. You could have stopped me but you didn't, you could have push me away or worse but you didn't Instead you kissed me back and you're ready to give it all up because of your friend! Really! Yolanda!"

Her entire body almost choked from her own tears. She knew he was angry but what can she do, all she wanted was for her friend to be happy.

"I won't do it Yoyo, I would rather die!" He whispered into her ears.
