Grams opened her arms the second I opened the front door. “Welcome home!”
I laughed. “Hi, Grams.” I had to admit, I missed her so incredibly much. We didn’t spend a lot of time away from each other. Grams was the only person I had. “It’s so good to finally be home. I don’t suppose there is breakfast?” My stomach growled as soon as the words left my mouth.
Grams chuckled and squeezed my arm. “Now, what kind of grandma would I be if I didn’t have breakfast ready?”
“You’re amazing,” I said.
We headed to the kitchen, where the smell of eggs, bacon, and butter hit my nose. I inhaled appreciatively, and my mouth watered. The food was still hot. Grams made the best sunny-side-up eggs.
There were already two plates at the table. Grams was supposed to pick me up this morning, but she had a flat and doesn’t know how to change one. Lucky for her, I love working on cars, and changing a flat isn’t a problem.
