"Where is she?" Pippin asked Mama but she only shook her head. "I'm not sure..." Mama mumbled while starting to walk forward but Lasso gently grabbed her arm and pulled her back. "I'm sure she'll come any minute now" he told her and Mama sighed and nodded. A lot of people had gone their separate ways so yards away from the gate was just Mama Williams's group and some of the guards. They waited and watched the front doors of the old hotel but never saw Cypher come out. Instead a loud blast could be heard and the first floor of the hotel began to crumble. All the windows were blown out and so were the doors. Next the second floor. Another blast was heard and all the windows were blown out while it began to crumble on the first. A chain reaction of explosions happened on each floor. Everyone behind the gate quickly ducked behind thick trees to avoid debris. They all covered their ears and ducked down to make sure they did not get hit.
Balls of fire lit up the night sky and loud explosions scared any wildlife that could hear away. Cypher remained seated on the roof, waiting calmly for the concrete to crumble under her. She held the detonator in her hand and felt the roof break away under her. She closed her eyes and just allowed herself to fall. No panic, no worry, nothing. Cypher just let herself fall. She knew the day she started Dead End again that she was going to be the one to destroy for good. She also came to terms that she would be going down with it. As she fell she felt the heat of the fire around her and inhaled smoke. It burned her throat but she didn't care. She just giggled at the feeling, knowing soon she wouldn't feel anything anymore. Nothing seemed to matter anymore. She smiled as she felt the wind whip passed her and opened her eyes one more time to look up at the night sky that was now filling up with smoke. "I'm sorry for everything..." she mumbled and closed her eyes and felt the impact of hitting the pile of rubble only for a split second before everything went dark.
No one moved for awhile. They wanted to make sure all the explosions were done and nothing else was going to hit them. They waited for what felt like an eternity. They listened to the soft crackle of fire, waiting to see if there were going to be anymore explosions. Everyone heard quick footsteps and when they looked to the path that leads to the now destroyed gate. All they saw was a boy running. "Cypher!!" He screamed and ran to the rubble. It was Charlie. He was back once more. He ran to the rubble and began to climb over the pile of brick, concrete, burning wood, and twisted metal in search for Cypher. Lasso and Mama sprinted after him, telling everyone else to stay put just in case. Charlie called Cypher's name, screaming above the soft crackle of fire around them. He got to the top of the mound of rubble and froze. Tears streamed down his cheeks and he just stared down the other side. Mama and Lasso joined him to see what he was looking at.
Down on the other side of the rubble lay Cypher. She was completely motionless and her back was to them. They could see some blood on bits of concrete surrounding her where she might of hit before landing in the spot she lay now. Mama held Charlie while Lasso quickly climbed down to Cypher. Lasso finally got a closer look and she looked in terrible shape. It was obvious that many bones were broken including her arms and one of her legs. He hadn't even gotten down to her and he could tell it wasn't going to be good at all. She most likely had more internal injuries that he could not see and he finally got down to her. Lasso crouched down behind her and gently pulled her to where she was on her back. Cypher was limp so he struggled at first but when he turned her over her gaze was blank to the sky.
She did not breathe or move. All she did was lay there. Lasso first laid his head on her chest but heard no heartbeat. She was gone. For a moment he just sat there and looked back up to where Mama and Charlie had been. They must've taken a few steps away from the edge cause he could no longer see them. He turned back to Cypher and checked to see what injuries could have been fatal. He came to the conclusion that a broken neck and broken spinal cords was what caused her death and he sighed. He didn't have to worry about her reanimating and biting him since people with broken spinal cords don't come back either. He never cared enough to learn why, as long as they don't come back was his mindset of things.
"You really did it...you crazy son of a bitch..." he mumbled. "Never thought I'd say this but I am going to miss you...." He sighed and hung his head. "Sure you were a pain in the ass but it was never a dull moment.." he chuckled softly and shook his head. He then carefully took her trench coat off her. "I'll give this to Charlie..." he gently patted her shoulder and slowly got up. Before he began climbing back up he took one last look at her. "Say hi to my sisters and the twins for me..." he sighed then turned back and started to climb back up, leaving Cypher's body there. He had her trench coat over his shoulder and it took him a few minutes to get back up. Once he did he saw Mama holding Charlie in her lap, sitting with her back to him.
Charlie heard Lasso come back up and immediately got up and ran to him. He had a solemn look and Charlie slowed his run to a stop. "Is she?..." he started and Lasso just quietly handed him her trench coat. "No..." Charlie whispered and held her coat to his chest. He felt his knees buckle and Lasso caught him. "No...no...no...." He whimpered, tears streaming down his cheeks once more. Lasso slowly lowered himself to the ground, holding Charlie in his arms and let him cry. Mama went over and sat with them, rubbing Charlie's back. The only thing that could be heard was the caws of birds coming back and Charlie's sobs. The only other noise was the soft crackle of fire as it was slowly going out.
