Chapter 32 - Dealbreaker

I’m fuming as I wait.

As my tears finally ceased, all I want it to get this anger out because I have never hit my daughter before.

I know kids will be kids and I try to reprimand and guide her the best way I can without getting so carried away that I’d lay a hand on her.

I couldn’t help but pace around the living room.

Too mad to sit still after seeing Mara in the daylight.

When I finally heard the knock, I immediately pulled him in and closed the door.

“How can you not have noticed that something is wrong with your daughter?” I hissed, trying to keep my voice down.

When I turn around, Drayce cannot bring himself to look back at me. “I know, I’m sorry. She was almost always clinging to me. I didn’t know when it happened. Neither does my mother.”

“I trusted you!” With my anger brewing more and more, I couldn’t help but hit him in the chest. He didn’t try to defend himself or stop my arms from hitting him. I know for someone like him, it wouldn’t have been painful.
