Chapter 33 - Realizations Sometimes Come Late

I couldn’t say no.

As much as I hate what happened to my daughter, it isn’t completely his fault.

As I drive back home, I couldn’t help but think about everything that had happened.

When Mara heard that I am allowing her to see her dad again, she was so happy I couldn’t help but just give in to everything she wants.

When Drayce picked her up from daycare, I reminded him of icing Mara’s bumps and bruises but it wasn’t the image I would end up seeing the moment I opened the door.

It was a simple image. Drayce held up a few ice packs on Mara’s temples and arms but the way he did it had some delicateness to it that even though he appears intimidating, you can feel his care for her so warmly that I wasn’t able to move for a few seconds.

They are talking lively as they watch cartoons while Mimi plays on the floor.

It took them a while before they noticed me.
