Chapter 63 - Less Enthused Bride

“Ma, did you only plan on having just one child?” I ask as my mom and I eat snacks in the kitchen while watching some tv.

“I was hoping I’d have at least 2 kids but your dad insisted on having just one.” She said, beaming before she takes another bite of her rice cake.

“Why does he only want one?”

“I’m not really sure why but maybe because he and I grew up with so many siblings. Both of us knew how it feels like to be overlooked by our parents because it’s difficult to have so much.”

“Is it really difficult to have a lot of siblings?”

“Yes, anak.”

“But are you happy with just me?”

“Sweetie…” She stood up from the chair across from me and went to my side. Kissing my head and cheeks she looks into my eyes and continued. “I will always be thankful and happy with just you.”

“Do you really?”

“The one thing you usually don’t do is question the love of a mother to her child. There isn’t anything like that kind of love. You’ll see.”
