Chapter 38

                  ~Lan's POV~

'Will you come with me Lan?'

That question was still reverberating in my head as we drove off in the starry dark of the night.

I still wonder why I agreed to this in the first place. But at that moment he asked. My heart was pounding fast in my chest.

His words from earlier came out more deep than I am sure he expected. The shocked look on his face was prove enough.

My hands wrapped around him in a firm grip as he drove of rather fast on his bike.

I can still remember my reaction when I first saw the bike.

I was scared shitless that I considered climbing back to my room. I have never been on a bike before. Plus this machine has killed alot of people and counting. Don't blame me if I wasn't ready to end up in a grave.

The idiot had to threaten to tell Nate that I snuck out of the night with him to get me to agree. Though I doubt he'd tell on me, unless he's a snitch.

"Hold on tighter" He yelled to me through the wind.

"I am I am! How much tighter do you expect me to hold you!" I complained holding on as tight as I could.

"Like you'd never let go" He said. I could here the tease in his words.

'If you say so...'

I held him so tight that he gasped. My grip on him was so tight that I'm sure I'd be able to squeeze the life out of him if I tried hard enough.

"Do you want to kill me?!"

I scoffed scouting closer.

"You were the one who told me to hold you tighter. Did I do something wrong?" I asked trying to sound innocent.

"Well played, I'd get back at you" He said.

'...Land us safely first before you think of getting back at me ' I thought to myself easing my hand around him.

"Lan?" He yelled amidst the wind.

"What?" I asked.

"Close your eyes..." He said turning his head to stare at me.

"Are you mad watch the road!! If you would like to die then do that when I'm off"

He chuckled facing back the road.

"Close your eyes " he repeated.

I frewed my eyebrows confused.

"W-why?" I stuttered scared shitless.

What if we have an accident while my eyes are closed and I die?

"Stop overthinking and close your eyes. Feel the wind. Trust me you'd enjoy it" He said increasing his speed making me scared.

I shut my eyes tightly. Everything around me felt like they increased to a 100°. I felt like I was going to die.

"I don't like it..." I complained hold him tightly.

"Just try to enjoy it. Be calm.Trust me"

My heart was racing in my chest. I forced my breathing to calm down.

I could feel the wind on my skin as my heart calmed down. Everything was going in so much rush. It was thrilling but fearful at the same time.

"Now let go of me and spread your arms apart" He yelled.

"Are you mad? No way" I shook my head refusing. That was dangerous. What if I fall off and die?

"Trust me. I won't let anything happen to you" He promised.

Putting my fate in someone who drives faster than I could talk was crazy but still I did.

I slowly let go of him fearfully spreading my arms apart. My eyes still shut.

My thighs gripped tighter on the bike holding my balance.

The wind rushed through my hair as fear cut through me. My adrenaline rush was high running through my body.

I felt so light and free. I was scared of falling off but somehow that made it more fun.

"This is awesome!!!"I giggled letting the wind blow my skin.

He laughed increasing his speed.

"Woah" My balance shook as I quickly wrapped my hands around him and open my eyes.

"Do you want to kill me?" I asked slapping his back. He just laughed it off.

"We are here" He announced bringing the bike to a stop.

"And where is here exactly?" I asked examining everywhere. It was a dark lonely road, nothing around. I stared around scared.

Did he bring me here to dispose of me?

"Stop looking like I want to kill you, look over their" He pointed at the other side.

I turned towards the direction and stared at the sight. It was beyond breathtaking.

It was just an open field nothing special about it but what was amazing was the millions of stars in the sky at this place.

It was more than I'd ever seen. So mesmerizing.

He dismounted the bike helping me off.

We walked together into the open field.

"How is this possible?" I asked amazed.

"I don't know. Ever since I found it myself I couldn't explain it. But somehow the stars were more here than anywhere else and the sky was always bright." He explained, his hands tucked away in his pocket.

We laid down on the grass. Somehow it felt like deja Vu.

Then it occurred to me. I have laid in the same position with Mark. The thought of him stabbed my heart. I felt like I was hurting him.

I'm not doing anything wrong so why do I feel like I'm betraying him.

"Hey are you listening?" Damon asked staring at me.

"What did you say?" I asked.

"I asked if you liked it?" He repeated.

I stared at the sky a smile on my face "Yeah..it's beautiful." I nodded.

We stayed in the same position talking about random things.

This few moment we spent together made me see him in a different light. The way he laughed with his eyes, the way he spoke, his choice of words.

I felt more closer to him. I wouldn't mind being friends with him at all. He is definitely not as bad as he makes himself out to be.

We stayed for a while as he told me stories of his childhood making me chuckle in amusement. I didn't fail to notice the lack of a father figure in his words but I let it slip not wanting to make him uncomfortable.

We drove back later almost close to daylight. My eyes were tried as I felt sleepy. He stopped close to my window. I got off his bike standing beside it.

He leaned on his bike staring at me. I pinched my fingers not knowing what to say.

"Won't you come up?" I asked pointing at the open window.

"No I think I should go home" He said.

I nodded awkwardly.

"You should go." He said dismissing me.

"Ohkay..." I moved away from him still staring at my fingers.

"Lan?" He called out.

I raised my eyes staring at him.

"Thank you" He said smiling at me.

"For what?" I asked confused.

"For making me forget for a moment" He said driving off without explaining.

I stood their confused as I watched as his bike became distant.

"What was he talking about?" I mumbled confused.

I climbed up my window, falling into my room. I locked the window sighing in relief.

That was crazy. I have never sneaked out at night before and somehow I enjoyed it.

Feeling tired, I skipped bathing and slipped into my duvet trying to get as much sleep I could get before dawn.
