Answering the Phone, Lina sang, "Evelina Wilson."
"Ms Evelina, have you ever been told you have a lovely voice?" His voice floated through the phone, and she instantly recognised it.
"Pete," She muttered, trying to shake off the weird feeling that enveloped her the moment she heard his voice.
"Yes, it's me." He answered. "I tried not to call last night as you asked, but it's 9 am, and this is as far as my self-control can go. I had to call you." He confessed.
Had to call her? He made it sound like it was something he couldn't do without. Trying not to ponder on that or act unfriendly as she being acting towards him, she took a short breath.
"For a man your size, you seem to have so little of it." She said. "I mean this self-control."
Pete's lips edged to the side at her word, hearing her sound calm and relaxed, a different tone from the clipped and unfriendly tone she always used with him.
