Leaning against the door jamb, Pete watched her with careful and intent eyes as she busied around the kitchen. Her hands preparing ingredients, and her eyes were keenly paying attention to what she was cooking.
There was a smile on her lips — one he'd love to taste with a kiss, and if it weren't for that knot between her brows he'd have said she was happy.
Or maybe she was, but something was also looping through her mind. He was certain of it.
"Do you need help?"
Lina jerked her head towards the door, and surprise registered on her face when she saw him leaning against the door.
"How long have you been standing there? Where's Serena?" She looked over his shoulder in search of her little monster, who she was certain would jump in at the right moment. Her silly giggles embracing the air.
"I helped her tuck Stacy into bed, she's now singing her a lullaby. She'll be here soon."
