Chapter 32 - Giovanni (1)

The warehouse smells like gunpowder, metal, and sweat. The gunshots only last two minutes where I manage to grab a gun and clips from old Romeo's holster and fire back at masked men. By the time Gael and his soldiers roll in and start firing at them too, the intruders leave in a hurry.

A few of our men go after them. I choose to remain. While I'd love to get my hands on them, it's smarter to stay behind and deal with this mess as fast as possible, knowing the authorities might get wind of this. Also, nothing good comes out of a car chase.

I check myself for wounds even though I know I wasn't hit, just to make sure. Aside from a few bruises in places where I bumped them into something hard while trying to take cover, I seem to be in one piece.

"Fuck. Are you hurt?" Gael rushes to me, his eyes wild as he pats me down, checking for any bullet holes.

"I'm alright."

"The hell you are! You're bleeding. Somewhere. Where are you shot?"
