Hello, some stuffs here. Not all individuals in this book would speak in pure medieval accent. Just a few individuals I personally choose for that would use it. Besides chapter 29 to 31 has been re-edited... Check it out! Especially 29!! For a better descriptions of this beasts.
Terror, fear, and disturbing were the only adjectives to describe the chaos that was ongoing. Crimson blood besmeared white colours that decorated each building; tainting the purity of this event.
The legendary festival of Launa was now a haven for slaughtering.
Within this noontide, Heels after heels scrambled over the cobbled roads of this county as Elves and foreign individuals scampered for safety. Some holding onto their loved ones while some running alone— abandoning those they came with.
Unfortunate one's were added to the coup that was going on, shearing their blood on the already tainted environment. Screams and wails of agony couldn't be unheard...
With a fist wrap his hand and a waltz to a corner, Eradan wasn't able to process any single thing that just happened. The very first minute was nothing but an all lively and gay town. But just within a few seconds... Things changed. He was now hiding in a well secluded shop. Andrew Cazzen standing beside him. And both of them peeping at the outer environment to get a better view of the hell that was going on; through a slot made on the door.
All Eradan could see were green bodied creatures with bloody sharp teeths, Ripping and feasting on any living flesh they spotted. This gruesome sight sent shivers down the youth's spine. Their massive forearms adorned with sharp claws made clicking sound each time it made contact with the cobbled floor. Their smaller hindleg warning looking eyes of their sprinting abilities.
Eradan gaped at this beasts with disbelief. His heart drumming an unrhythmic beat. Thick ionic smell welcomed his nose that Eradan couldn't help but scrunch it up.
The smell of blood became dense.
"Something is not right," A worried Cazzen spoke up.
Obviously! A blue eyed youth thought to himself, a visible look of mockery beautifying his face. They're under attack by vicious green monster just within seconds?
"Virtually, everything isn't right!? I'm now in an attacked town after narrowly escaping some creeps that came after me!... " He said, with stern sarcasm, although his voice was lowered. He was really lost with how this new world played. Firstly, a good thing, then, horrible events following up. Who knew the tons of them that were waiting for him?
" No... Not that. Look at their eyes... It seems... different?" The other came in, directing Eradan's gaze.
Eradan glanced at those creatures once more, and truthfully their eyes were really awry if that was what Andrew was talking about. He hadn't noticed their eyes earlier. "Yep, it's obviously not attractive... What else?"
Andrew looked at him and cocked an eyebrow. Truly, truly, where was this individual beside him from? Doesn't he know what this creatures are? He sighed then said "Their eyes are supposed to be yellow, but they're black... They must have been poisoned or something."
Andrew was fully aware of those creatures. Despite their hideous features, they were peaceful ones and only fed on lower creatures. He had crossed path with a few of them but they were harmless. What could have possibly happened?
Eradan, however, could only give a nod of affirmation. One which obviously knew nothing about them.
"Besides. They are called Vasperi." Andrew casted a glance at the one beside him. He could tell that this youth beside him was quite oblivion of many things in this world of theirs. Besides, Foreigners were actually aware of this creatures... Why wasn't he? He began to ponder on the location the youth beside him resided. Who knew where he had shut himself from?
The more Andrew looked at Eradan, the more puzzled he was. Hiding his beautiful features from the world... How funny!.. He concluded.
He remembered how he brought Eradan out of a ice made canoe. So Chrystal and clear that the sun's reflection nearly had him blind in minutes. He could be an ability wielder just like a few of their types but might be hiding his abilities... *Shakes head*
Eradan however, was really lamenting on the hideous world he fell into. Was it some sort of J. R. R. Tolkien book or Brandon Sanderson's cause it definitely wasn't interesting as he thought. It was one crazy place!
The mentioning of Vas... Vasperi had him all out. Of course, he shouldn't have forgotten about that since he was duely informed about having mythical creatures in this realm. But it was too much to handle. No abilities to fight these creatures. His swordmanship was no way compared to the beings living there. He'll be maimed without trying.
However, he could compensate himself with the likes of Cazzen and the rest.
After a few more massacre, a dead silence had followed up. This silence held the fear of lucky individuals that were able to find secluded places to hide. Awry from the glares of those creatures.
Repetition of clicking sounds continued, disturbing the silence that had once overruled this scene. Without telling, one could know the causes of it. The prey scouting had began. They were going to fish out the hidden individuals.
Andrew darted his amber eyes, surveying their surrounding; and concluded that there was little to no hope. The Aelkans weren't present, and they didn't seem capable to arrive in time. This beasts might finish them before they would eventually arrive. So it was better they ran away.
He turned and quietly called a lamenting Adan beside him.
"Dane, we'll need to get out of here... Follow me."
Flick!
Unanticipatedly, A candle was lit some metres away from the both of them, it's white illumination startling them. Neath the halo of that illumination, sat a small figure wrapping itself while it held out the candle.
A light sob followed...
"...?"
"?..."
Both Eradan and Cazzen flashed a look of confusion at themselves. An aura of anomaly encased them. Eradan, however, was the first to break of from the weird aura as he gently wanted to approach the figure.
Taking the first step, he felt a fist wrap his arm and his blue eyes met Amber eyes that signalled... Careful.
He gave a smile of assurance; his ears unknowingly reddened. The youth released Cazzen's grip on him and made his way towards the sobbing figure.
On getting there, a feeling of surprise washed through him. His eyes widened. He knew this figure, it was the youngest of those elves he recently took to the story house. What was he doing here?! As if answering himself, Eradan's composure became grim. He must have went to hide when those so-called Ves... Vas... Vasperi attacked. Eradan couldn't help but ponder about the remaining two.
He gently squatted close to the little elf and stroked his hair. Grey glistening eyes welcomed him before gleaming in surprise. Eradan beamed.
Andrew who noticed that figure wasn't harmful, approached them while Eradan kept stroking the little elf tenderly.
"Where are the rest?" Eradan couldn't help but ask. He was quite worried about those remaining two. Hope they were safe. His blue eyes met the beady grey ones of that little Elven.
"T-T-The crowd separated us, while w-we ran for safety..." The little boy answered, tears welling his eyes then streaming down. "D-Do you think they would be okay?.. Mrs?"
Eradan pressed his lips together and paused his stroking; not knowing how to react to the question. He shifted his gaze to Cazzen, just to find him snickering. Really? Laughing cause he was called Mrs?
His gaze darkened...
Andrew shuddered at how two sharp blue eyes darted at him, sending cold signals to his own eyes. He immadiately wiped the grin off his face. Who knew this attractive figure could be cold?
With a huff, The youth squatting beside him retraced his gaze to the crying elf beside him. Eradan parted his lips and answered, "They'll be Okay."
He tapped the little boy's nose then asked " What's your name...?"
Grey eyes once more fell on the youth before the little kid opened up, "I don't have a na—"
He couldn't finish his sentence when a clicking sound echoed nearby.
Click!
They all became alert.
Click!
Eradan quickly blew out the candle that illuminated their environment; likewise covering the lips of the sobbing elf beside him. "Shhhh!"
Andrew on the other hand maintained utmost quiescence.
Three pairs of eyes were sent to the entrance of this secluded shop, their eyes beholding the rays of moonlight sipping into this shop through the door's slot. Their breaths all held at the predator roaming around them.
Subconsciously, the sight of those moon rays suddenly reminded Eradan of the story he had heard earlier. The tales of Launa...
Click!
This cacophony of clicking sound kept on, jolting the youth back to reality. They all waited patiently for that clicking resonance to fade away, but it seemed to be doing the opposite... It was loud and clear! The creature must have sensed that its preys were hiding within that place.
Suddenly...
A loud bang was heard on the door. The creature had tried to barge in but fortunately for them, the door stood still. At this point, beads of sweat were already forming trails on Eradan's forehead. Was this how he was going to die?
The youth held onto the kid beside him tightly; his blue eyes fixed on the silhouette of that creature, sipping in through the slot on that door. Andrew Cazzen was left out either. His fear doubled as he began to hear scratching sounds on the wall of their hideout.
Claws after claws gnawed on the surface of their hideout but it appeared tough. However, the screeching sounds it made couldn't be ignored. It only took few minutes for all this to came to an end.
The clicking sound had started to fade. Like the ticking of a wall clock, it went to oblivion.
And like birds in the deep blue sky, a moment of relief swept by. Swaying off the atmosphere of angst that polluted their environment. Both Eradan and Andrew heaved sighs of relief. Eradan released his hold from the little Elven beside him and got up.
"There should be an exit somewhere?" Andrew was the first to speak up. He took the candle from the little elf and lit it up. Everywhere illuminated.
From what they could see, they were in a Jester's shop. Funny faces and aeshethics were hung around. Some scaring the shit out of Eradan that his heart skipped beats.
"Isn't the 'door' meant to be the only exit here?" Brows of a certain youth raised.
" No, Elven buildings tend to have two, three or more exits. In case of conditions like this" The Amber haired elf answered, flashing the candle left then right. "Besides, as a tricky place here is, you should be mindful of your movement."
Andrew led the way and they followed up. They hadn't taken up to four steps when Eradan stepped on a honk.
SQUEEEEE!!!!!
They all sent their hands to their ears. The sound was quite deafening but alas it came to a stop. A dazed Adan stood transfixed, his mind rummaging on what had just happened. The widened eyes of Cazzen and the plain composure of the Elven kid beside him reminded him of the fudge he had caused.
Suddenly...
Thousands of clicking sounds began to approach them... They were dead...
