/"If you have any problems,/" Link said darkly, his eyes cold and his face painfully bare, /"Any at all, then be sure not to bother me./" With that, the blond spun on his heels, turning back towards the threshold of the bedroom door that Aiden had been assigned. He paused, hand on the handle, and glanced back over his shoulder. /"Seriously, don't bother me./"

The door slammed shut behind him. The echoing thud seemed to live in Aiden's ears long after the figure had retreated. And just like that, he was alone.

He was alone, and for the first time in a long time, he wanted to scream; he did scream.

As the web of privacy embraced him, what thin shred of pride still tethered him dissolved beneath the roaring gush of his lungs; his mouth cranked open so wide his jaw cracked, and all his pain, all his anger and hurt, they came hurtling out. The soundless bellow racked through him. It tore through his chest like a meat grinder, mincing up his insides.
