“Are you sure?” The crow piped up quietly, demurely. Knowing that she hadn’t been accustomed to human interaction, I felt nothing but pure sympathy and understanding toward my newfound friend.

“Absolutely! I have the most perfect name for you, as it’s been crossing my mind for quite some time now. It’s something I’ve always been planning to name my future child. Elouise.”

Grinning profusely, Elouise accepted her new name with graciousness and awe. “That really is the most eloquent name I’ve ever heard. But what about my middle name?”

“Hmm.” Frowning thoughtfully, I mulled it over in my mind for a few moments, then said, “How about Rose?”

Elouise cawed softly, quite clearly in approval.

“Perfect,” I sighed, throwing my arms enthusiastically around Elouise.
