Felicity screamed in frustration when she got to the edge of the cliff with one hand in the air lifted as she fisted with her nails digging hard into her palms while staring out to the sky with the sun that was beginning to rise. The ocean was roaring, the waves crashing into the uneven stone cliff terrain that was getting warped below.
Felicity skidded to a stop, and she took a deep breath before perusing her way gaze down as calmly as she could despite her being close to hyperventilating soon with the scare that the raures were gaining on her. The fall was steep, even taller than the one from the test. Few would survive a drop from the height.
If she had jumped as she did with the test, there was a large chance that she wouldn't get away with just a fractured bone like Leo. She would not return at all. Her foot was nearing the edge of the cliff with her boots causing small little rocks that had been raised above to skitter off the ledge, and Felicity watched them as they went down despite not being able to hear any pitter-patter from the light weight of the pebbles, so she didn't know what she was waiting for.
There was soft chittering behind her, and Felicity swallowed thickly as she slowly turned around her shoulder to see the hoard come up the hill and build a crescent to surround her. Those further in the back had their tails geared up and ready to go, but it seemed that the raures were trying to get her off the cliff instead.
It did buy her time but with the few seconds that could truly make a difference, she was out of ideas. There was no way she could get past them with her little daggers.
It was a hopeless dilemma in her eyes. There were no openings with the raures banding together so closely, and she glanced back behind her as she felt the back of her foot go in the air.
The sharp spikes flew towards her, and she dodged, stepping to the side immediately moving before the raures made the attack, and she kept her steps light so that she wouldn't lose her balance.
The spikes cut through the bottom half of her body, and she looked down to see the small cut on the side of her thigh making pain sear through the damage, but it wasn't enough to immobile her body in any way.
Suddenly the raures lunged at her, and Felicity screamed as she fought them off with her tiny dagger. Dragging the blade through multiple bodies after forcing it through all the tissue, she spat to the side as the dark blood drained onto her covering her with the slick liquid and making her gag.
Black spots appeared in her vision, the exhaustion catching up on her, and she spun to the right and stabbed the face of the raure with the distorted mouth ripping apart to hiss before turning to shimmer in its death.
Sweat was pouring off her face her wiping the top of her lips with the back of her hand, and she lunged ahead to slice the head off of another beside the raure that had been decimated only to hear a large buzzing come from above.
Training her eyes on the hoard in front of her, she kept close watch of the chopper out of the corner of her eye. She was frightened out of her mind, but she couldn't let herself embody it.
The golden shimmers fluttered around her as she continued to dodge all the metal spikes, and the helicopter lowered down beside her. If only, she had a chance to jump back since the chopper was reeling the doors to the side. Planting her foot on the ground, Felicity looked behind her to make her move only for the ground to slide vertically with the ground giving out beneath her.
Felicity shrieked from the suddenly lost of stability, and when she was just about to lose her balance to slip down the slide of the cliff, she jumped blindly. Her body fell with gravity taking over as she grappled through the air.
With her arms and legs flailing about, she knew that it wouldn't stop her fall well. She felt around the body armor hoping that there would be some sort of gadget that would help her survive.
There were no more buttons, and Felicity screamed as she looked to see the dark waves that were beginning to spin to dangerous speeds that she was approaching very soon, she closed her eyes resigning to her fate knowing that her life was on the line from the very first time that she came face to face with the new creature.
The new creature that was the very demise of her life, and Felicity closed her eyes, letting herself shut herself from the rest of the world, getting herself mentally prepared to get swallowed up by the warm shock of the warm tropical ocean in the summer months when her arm lurched in pain, and Felicity bit out a cry when a hand reached out for her, harshly stopping her fall making her legs swing about.
With a shuddering breath, she cast her eyes above with unshed tears in her eyes to see Leo gritting his teeth with the popping veins in his trembling arm which was threatening to give out.
There was a moment of a standstill with all the excruciating pain keeping her conscious as she looked up at him. The black spots that she was experiencing earlier were due to the high stress of that situation. Out of breath, she kept her tears at bay as she saw the mirrored pain in his eyes.
She couldn't read what his lips said, but she opened her eyes wider to catch the last part of his words. 'I'm sorry.' Felicity shook her head to him knowing there was nothing that they could do. She didn't have enough energy to hold bitterness in her body.
Felicity blinked back her tears and gave him a shaky smile of relief to which he continued to say more things that got drowned out by the loud flicker of the helicopter rotor blades and the whooshing in her ear from the sudden atmospheric change.
All that she truly wanted was to be safe when they all went home together.
