Raining Raures

Felicity whipped her eyes around suddenly on guard, her hands tightening around the hilt of her sword only to make her cringe at the sudden shock that sparked from the contact that she wasn't getting used to. It was an odd sensation that didn't sit right, but she had no control over what she liked or didn't.

She couldn't see Tatum's face from the angle that she was in, but the sudden panic was evident in the air. He overrode some of the systems that were silently yelling at them by slamming down on the many buttons that Felicity had lost track looking at since she had already cast her gaze out the window.

The sky was jet black but where the lightning flashed and brought brightness to the sky, there was a swirling ominous mix of dark violet and crimson. It didn't spell out a good time for them, and it only made Felicity think about the clear skies that she had just previously seen a couple of hours ago.

Melissa immediately drew her knees up to her chest from the sudden squeak in her voice. "What is that?"

Felicity didn't know what to say, because, in all honesty, she had no idea. It could have been a lightning strike, but what made Felicity worry was the fact that she could see Melissa's crumbling mental state along with the uncertainty that was already in the air. Melissa was injured, and Felicity didn't wish for her to hold any more long-term problems because of it.

Leo inched his way closer to the window. "The engyure is huge and seems to be spreading. Look at the center of it defying the laws of gravity."

Felicity tilted her head in confusion. "Where?"

Leo pulled Felicity over to the side, and she peered out only to gasp when she saw the water starting to lift up, but she also couldn't really tell. "What in the world is even happening over there?"

Tatum scrubbed a hand down her face. "This is on another scale that I failed to realize the implications. We need to turn back. We won't be able to make it out of here if we don't do it now."

Medina was cut off when there was a shrill screech in the back. Felicity whipped her eyes over to Melissa only for her to start screaming. "Raure!"

"What?" Felicity yelled only for Medina to stalk over to the door with her bow in hand and begin to pull the door to the helicopter open making Felicity scream with her arms stretch out.

"Don't! Medina!"

Medina lifted her bow and drew the arrow before shooting blindly. Felicity's mouth dropped open as arrow after arrow, the creatures bellowed when they got hit and fell. What was even happening? Felicity turned to Leo in question only for the realization to crash down on her.

There were raures on top of the helicopter. Red lights came on from overhead calling the situation as an emergency, and a slew of curse words slew out of Tatum's mouth as he tried to salvage what was left of the condition of the helicopter as best as he could. But anyone could tell that the whole chopper was going down.

Melissa screamed for help covering her head and moving out of the way as the raure slowly got its hands inside the cabin, grasping on well only for Medina to immediately shoot making pieces of the flesh fly off which made Felicity cringe knowing that the body of the raures were almost gelatin-like with a solid build.

"What are you two doing?" Medina yelled. "Use your weapons."

Felicity's jaw dropped further only for her to be shoved to the side when the other door of the helicopter was literally torn off by the raures with a sharp scratching noise when the metal was ripped off on both ends accompanied by flying sparks sending the helicopter spiraling.

"We're going down!" Tatum yelled.

For a split second, Felicity's feet left the ground of the helicopter as they fell, only to make contact again harshly with the metal walls. Grunting, she drew her affinity weapon ahead of her form squarely, vowing to take on anything that came their way. They all needed to get home.

The raures suddenly got easy access inside the helicopter, and the slowly poked their head inside. Their faces washed in red with the endless depth that could be seen behind their eyes were going to burn into her brain at night, but she wasn't going to let that get to her despite her skin starting to crawl.

Felicity charged holding her blade upright with a scream as the tip of her sword slid into the raure's face to the right before retracting her sword to slice the body turning it into dust. She spun around before the other one could jump on her, slashing the chest with her blade with all of her might.

Sparkling dust sprinkled over her skin leaving a sheer film that she wiped off with the back of her hand and a bated breath but she couldn't stop there. Leo grabbed his weapon and lunged forth stabbing the raure's heart cage in the center making a rune burst from within.

She dodged the falling rune and slid underneath to cut through two raures at the same time, hauling them out of the helicopter cabin. The weight was substantial enough to make her arms burn, but she eventually was able to shove them out into the roaring ocean.

Flaming arrows were now in business, and Medina shot them to the raures while also pushing Melissa to go sit in the front nearby Tatum so that she was away from the brunt of the attack.

Felicity helped get Melissa who was stumbling from the interior floor into the seat while pivoting on her foot to plunge her blade into the stomach of the raure who was able to sneak its whole body inside.

More thumps landed on top of the helicopter which made the whole chopper shift once more, and Felicity lost her footing making her collide into Leo. She narrowly missed his blade when she fell escaping the horrid fate that would have happened if not.

Leo yanked her to the other side of him flush to the wall since the floor was too slippery to progress any further at the angle the helicopter was in, but the rarues were still trying to get their way inside.

There were too many raures contrasted to the amount of people trying to fend them off, and there was nothing that they could do about it if they didn't want to slip out of the chopper into the ocean with no way of escape below.
