Chapter 35 Fear

"What are you doing here?" Came a deep voice; the faceless Darklord sat in the corner, surrounded by darkness, the flame of the torch shadowed as far as his feet; it was cold.

There was a shrieking cry of a woman begging for mercy. Looking around the room, the only thing there, except the reinforced oak door, was a small shabby table in the corner, lit up by the flickering candle, which burned dimly, dropping its waxy pearls on the surface of the wood.

As Bolin approached the table on top of it, he saw a newish piece of parchment with a giant red blob of wax that resembled blood.

"We are here for Answers, my Lord." Replied Bolin

The dark lord pointed with his sharp nails to the woman, and the cage opened as two men in black ropes dragged her across the rock-hard floor.

She looked vulnerably up at Bolin as she pleaded for a quick death; the two men strangled a thick chain around her neck and threw it over a water pipe ten meters above the ground.

As they pulled her up, she choked; she couldn't alleviate her pain by holding onto the chain and lifting herself; her hands were tied behind her; as she was choking, the men tipped over her top, picket up a long rubbery piece of leather with sharp silver points on it and whipped her back, the spikes tore pieces of her flesh bit by bit, she screamed as blood ran down her back pouring to the ground, the spikes went into her hand cutting through her finger, as her finger fell to the ground, cold air floated across the dungeon, just as the lady was don't die they let the chain down, leaving her unconscious and dragged her back to the cell.

It was silent again, and as you could hear water droplets, the dark lord stood up.

Mercy they beg

Mercy the seek

Foolish actions are what these humans breed.

I shall spare foolishness

I shall not let them eat

For tomorrow they shall breed.

He looked over at Bolin, "do you have an invite."

"No, My lord, I thought you."

The dark lord stopped him, "thats the problem we have in this world; people think it's okay to do things and invite themselves.

He looked over at one of the guys standing beside Bolin; so who shall you sacrifice, since you entered my Place uninvited?

"We could come back, My lord?"

The two guards looked in horror after what they had just witnessed.

"There shall be no such thing as coming back."

"You must choose now before I choose all three of you."

Their hearts were racing; the fear of being a slave to the dark lord would be like reliving every day in hell. Coldness, darkness, cries, sobs, screams, pain, and pain; if he were not happy with you, he would kill you most unimaginably.

Detective Bolin couldn't choose because these two detectives he had known for a long, and they were loyal to him; if he had only listened to them, he wouldn't have had to choose.

The dark lord looked over at Jun, who had just turned thirty - two, he had a one-year-old daughter, and he took care of his ill mother. He has heard of the dark lord, and Detective Bolin explains the underworld to them.

Still, they never thought much of it and thought it was a hoax to make them fear the cop industry, but now being in front of this faceless dado shadow with a black top appearing like a reaper and these guards, their worst fear had come true, the guards had been disarmed.

The only one with a pistol was Detective Bolin; they had never seen his eyes change black.

There was a sudden loud laughter, "you are having a hard time choosing Bolin; I never knew demons carry emotions, turn to them and show them who you are."

Detective Bolin had some humanity left im him even though that night he had died, he had awakened; it was the presence of detective Xia, at first glance, which had not wholly transformed him into the dark demon he was meant to be.

Detective Bolin turned to the guards, his eyes changed black, and his fangs came out.

The two guards felt their eyes grow wide as if their bodies had stiffened and paralyzed.

"Enough now; make your decision." Demanded the Darklord.

Detective Bolin looked over at Shen, a forty-year-old family man-loving husband, and his kids were ten and eleven years old a boy and a girl.

Jun was sure Bolin would sacrifice him since detective Bolin had met the family of Shen Jun was about to grab Detective Bolin's pistol and shoot him.

As he was about to grab it, he heard detective Bolin say take Shen.

Shen was not surprised; yes, they were friends, but Shen had done something to detective Bolin that Shen had not known Bolin had known all along.

Shen turned around, surprised, and before he could say anything, he felt hands on his shoulders. He tried breaking loose, but it was useless; these demonic creatures were far more powerful.

Bolin turned his back to Shen, Jun's hands were shivering as he tried his best not to run as fast as he could.

Shen got dragged through the dungeon into darkness; his screams faded the deep he got dragged away.

"So now that you have made your sacrifice with the guy who backstabbed you by sleeping with your wife, what can I do for you?"

Bolin glanced at Jun, "My lord, once again, I apologize for dropping in uninvited, but we have someone of far greater power than ." Bolin bit his tongue, thinking carefully; if he said greater than you, dark lord, he might be killed.

"Someone of great power, someone who kills me by just looking at me."

The dark lord lit a match and drew a shape of an arrow; the flame of the arrow lightened up the dark corners, thats when Jun and Detective Bolin saw the floor the dark lord was sitting on was not a floor; it was human bones and chunks decomposed body parts on which the rats were feasting.

Jun choked on his puke, looking at the decomposed bodies around the dark lord's eyes darkened as he glanced up, "come closer, Jun."

He whispered; Jun looked at Bolin, and Bolin nodded; Jun swallowed his fear and pushed one leg in front of the other until he reached the dark lord; the dark lord's face was not visible; he stood up he was taller than every average human Jun has seen, he placed his cold on Jun's shoulder.

"Great things await you."

Jun fell and passed out; as the dark lord floated over to Bolin, he stepped back.

"Who is this one you are speaking of, Bolin."

Bolinnwas trying to see the face of the dark lord but even face to face, he appeared faceless.

The dark lord placed his hand on Bolin's forehead, and as he placed it, he pulled away; the lights in the dungeon flickered, "get them here." the guards grabbed Jun and Bolin by the arms and removed them from the dungeon.

What had just happened? Jun was holding his head; it felt heavy, as if someone had knocked him from behind on the head.

I suddenly awoke. It was three in the morning. It seemed like the whole world was sleeping but me. The silence is sinister. I felt the weight of the darkness pushing on me.

My mind darted from one nightmare scenario to the next; the fear of the unknown overwhelmed me, and I was paranoid about vicious intrusionsMy bedroom door was wide open.

My eyes darted around the room, hunting for anything different, dark silhouettes lurking in the darkness. I failed to find anything out of the ordinary

This only increased my paranoia even more. I felt like I was fighting a war with the darkness, darting from one trench to the next, fleeing for my life. I groped around the darkness to find the light switch on my bedside lamp. I flipped the light… Light… Safety.

I immediately felt relieved. I listened carefully for any noises. I could only hear the buzz of electricity in the light above me, which gave me a sense of safety and the beating of my terrified heart.

I walked over to Jia's room; she was sound asleep. Was it all a dream, the shadows of darkness drawing me into a world where I constantly had to watch over my shoulder? I walked to Mia's room; she was standing by her window, "Mia, are you okay?" I whispered; she turned and looked paled; they were back.

Who is back? The detectives that were here earlier. I walked over to the windows and saw them walk up and down in the front yard; this time, it was only two of them; I ran down the stairs and checked if the doors were locked. That's when I heard footsteps from the kitchen.
