As I was about to leave my room to go to the police, I heard a noise behind me. I turned around and saw Yuna, standing there with a gun in her hand.
My heart sank as I realized what she was about to do. But before I could react, she spoke.
"Jack, you need to let this go," she said, her voice shaking. "You need to move on and forget about Emma."
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. How could she ask me to just forget about Emma and the person responsible for her death?
"I can't do that, Yuna," I replied, my voice firm. "I have to see this through and make sure that justice is served."
Yuna hesitated for a moment, the gun still pointed at me. And then, to my surprise, she lowered the weapon.
"Fine," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "But you need to know that there are things about Emma's death that you don't know. Things that you're better off not knowing."
I was confused. What was she talking about? What did she know about Emma's death that I didn't?
"Yuna, what are you talking about? What secrets are you keeping from me?" I asked, my voice filled with frustration and anger.
She didn't answer me right away. Instead, she looked away and took a deep breath before turning back to me.
"Jack, Emma and I had been talking for a while before she died," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "She was scared and didn't know who to turn to. She confided in me about some things that were happening in her life that you didn't know about."
I felt my heart drop as Yuna's words sunk in. Emma had been keeping secrets from me?
"What kind of things?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
Yuna hesitated for a moment before finally speaking.
"Emma was receiving threatening messages from someone she didn't know," she said, her voice shaking. "She didn't know who it was, but she was terrified. I tried to help her, but she didn't want to involve the police. She didn't want to involve you."
I felt the anger and betrayal rising inside of me. Emma had been scared and alone, and she didn't turn to me for help.
"Why didn't she come to me, Yuna? Why didn't she tell me what was happening?" I asked, my voice filled with emotion.
Yuna looked at me with sadness in her eyes. "She was afraid, Jack. She didn't want to burden you with her problems. She knew how much pressure you were under with your work and didn't want to add to it."
I took a deep breath, trying to process everything that Yuna had just told me. Emma had been keeping secrets from me, and she had paid the ultimate price for it.
"I need to know who was threatening her, Yuna," I said, my voice firm. "I need to make sure that person is brought to justice."
Yuna hesitated for a moment before finally speaking.
"I'll tell you everything I know, Jack," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "But you need to be prepared for the truth. It's not going to be easy to hear."
I nodded, my determination to find the truth stronger than ever.
"I'm ready," I said, my voice firm.
And with that, Yuna began to explain what happened
