Chapter 41: Crumbling

“You monsters!” Edwin shouted as he tried to crawl to James, but Stanley’s heavy foot stepped on his back and pushed him prone to the ground.

“We are not the monsters here,” Father Terrence said as he stood in front of Edwin. “Your tainted souls are. And that’s exactly why I brought you here, to cleanse your souls and send you to heaven!”

Edwin whimpered and tried to move out from under Stanley’s foot. “You’re wrong… I am not a monster, he is not a monster!”

“Really then? Explain to me why you believe he isn't a monster. Are you aware of how many men he might have killed today? Men with families, with children,” Terrence said with an evil grin.

“Th-That doesn’t mean he is a-”

“Oh, so it’s okay to kill. Is that what you’re saying? For the greater good right? And what qualifies to you as the greater good?” he added, purposefully cutting Edwin off. “He killed in your name today, their deaths are just as much your fault.”
