HORNIMAN NATURE TRAIL
POV MARCELINE
True to his word, Grey let me pick the next date idea. I stood at the trailhead to my favorite hiking spot, waiting for Grey to pull up. My mother had dropped me off earlier, stating she was visiting a friend down the way. But in reality I could tell she was worried about me. I had been quiet when I returned from shopping with Grey.
She didn't push it though as she listened to me complain about my stress at school. When we entered the parking area, she stopped me before I left the car.
"Darling, is everything alright? You seem quieter than usual. Is it that man?" my mother asked.
I smiled at her, "I'm fine mama. You know I wouldn't let a man get me down." I gave her a reassuring wink before exiting the car.
Pulling up a few minutes later, Grey got out of his car and walked toward me. He was wearing jeans and what looked like brand-new hiking boots. He had a long-sleeved blue shirt and a black beanie covering his head.
