"What?" I asked in disbelief as Grey continued to hold me down. "What do you mean you felt free?"
"I just…I don't know what I mean," Grey sighed, letting me go. "Let's just forget I said anything." I was about to confront him when his phone started ringing. His mouth pressed into a thin line as he read the caller ID. "I'm sorry, I have to take this."
Grey stood up and started walking away from the tree, out of ear shot. Picking up the discarded cheese and berries from our tumble, I started packing up the picnic. I wasn't sure how to process what Grey had said, it went against our contract.
My cheeks felt like they were on fire, but I didn't want to read too much into it. I was the first woman he had kissed after all. Maybe he just likes the feeling of being kissed. I'm sure his real future bride will be able to make him feel the same way.
