Chapter 31: Tragedy

APOTHECARY SHOP

POV MARCELINE

We had been driving back to Sharon's home when we passed the shop. I shouted at Sharon to stop the car, and I got out. My whole body felt cold and numb, like what I was looking at couldn't be real. Every window was smashed in, the door was hanging off one hinge, and I didn't even make it inside before I collapsed on the sidewalk.

Sharon was already on the phone with my parents, telling them they needed to get here as soon as possible. I could feel the tears running down my face, but I didn't remember starting to cry. Sharon helped me up off the ground and back into her car while we waited for my parents.

My father didn't take long as he quickly pulled up in the family car. I could still hear my mother's cry when she got out and saw the damage. This wasn't just a simple window fix, almost everything was destroyed. This time my father called the police.
