Chapter 32: Just Say It

GOOSE AND WAFFLE RESTAURANT

POV MARCELINE

After packing up the last of the salvageable materials, I said goodbye to my parents and left for dinner with Grey. Sharon had given me a concerned look as we left, but I tried my best to give her a reassuring smile. I had filled her in on what happened over the weekend, and I knew she was starting to doubt what I was doing.

Grey took us to a smaller restaurant on the other side of town. The dinner services were just getting started, so the restaurant was still mostly empty. My stomach was full of nervous flurries, and the smell of food was starting to make me nauseous.

"How are we doing today?" our waitress asked in a cheery voice.

"Just fine, thank you," Grey responded. "Can we get two waters and a couple of drinks to start off with?"

"Sure, what kind of drinks?" the waitress asked, writing on her notepad.

"Whatever you suggest," Grey said, giving her a small smile. The waitress nodded and left our table.
