Chapter 41: To a New Future

THE NEXT DAY

UNIVERSITY COLLEGE LONDON

POV MARCELINE

Sitting next to Sharon in the ceremony hall, I was about to die from heat exhaustion. Graduation had been canceled from being held outside due to the rainstorm thundering outside. Instead, we were sitting inside the stuffy ceremony hall with the heat cranked.

All of the students graduating were fanning themselves with the graduation pamphlets. Sharon's curly hair was hanging limp and sticking to her neck. But our key speaker didn't seem to notice the heat. He had already been speaking for thirty minutes and showed no signs of stopping.

"I swear he looks like he's melting on stage," Sharon whispered in my ear. I chuckled, mostly because she was right. He was one of the oldest professors at the university and his sagging skin did look like it was sagging a little more due to the heat.
