Chapter 31 Tina

Maxwell raised his eyebrows when he saw the look of confusion on Mellisa's face. "Mellisa, are you alright?" he asked, remembering how she had gotten sick from his perfume the last few days. "Am I making you uncomfortable?"

Mellisa bit her lip, unsure of what to say. She had been living with Maxwell for a month now, but she still knew nothing about him. What if he was a serial killer, or worse? "Who are you?" she blurted out.

Maxwell chuckled, swallowing his laughter before speaking in a serious tone. "I thought you knew who I was. I kidnapped a lot of women and sold them overseas, that's why I'm this rich. I'm absolutely bad news."

Mellisa was sweating by the time Maxwell finished speaking. Her eyes widened in shock, and she didn't realize that he was only joking. "Are you going to sell me too?" she asked fearfully.

Maxwell wanted to burst into laughter, but he stopped himself when he saw Melissa's teary-eyed. "Please don't sell me," she begged.

Maxwell smiled and said, "Melissa, I'm just joking with you. My name is Maxwell William."

Melissa's eyes widened in shock. "You mean Maxwell, the richest man in this country?"

"Yes, that's me," Maxwell replied.

"Oh wow! I'm the biggest fan of yours," Melissa exclaimed. "When I was a little girl, I saw your pictures in the newspaper. I told my friend Michelle that this guy is going to be my husband and my Prince Charming in the future, I still have many magazines of you back at home. I wanted to be successful like you, so I studied fashion and business." She said it all in one breath without taking a chance to breathe.

Maxwell was delighted to hear that Melissa had once considered him her prince charming, making it easy for him to ask her to marry him. "You can still make that dream come true by marrying me," he said, trying to know what was in her mind

Melissa sighed sadly. "I'm done with men. I don't want to get married again. I want to focus on myself and love myself, and I don't need a man for that."

"Not all men are the same," Maxwell argued. "Just like women, some are gold diggers and some are honest. All you have to do is give yourself another chance."

"I guess you're right," Melissa conceded.

Just then, the driver announced their arrival, interrupting the conversation.

Maxwell asked, "Don't you want to meet your aunt and uncle?"

"No, I just want to sleep now," Melissa replied.

So, Maxwell and Melissa went inside the house. Linda and Shina had gone to school and Michelle had gone to the office.

Maxwell said, "Just go and take a nap okay?"

"Okay," Melissa said, before going upstairs to sleep, while Maxwell went to his study room.

Melissa went to her room, but her nightmare wouldn't let her sleep. With no one else in the house except for the maids, she decided to make something to eat for herself. She found Maxwell in the kitchen, cooking something with narrowed eyes she said. " I didn't know that rich men like you could cook. "

Maxwell's tiled head slightly and replied with a smile, "I told you before that not all men are the same. Do you know how to bake?"

Melissa raised her eyebrows in disbelief, thinking all rich men were like Zick. " No I don't know how to bake, can you teach me how to? "

"Of course!" Maxwell said with a smile. "I can teach you how to bake a cake. It's not too hard, and you'll have a delicious treat to enjoy afterward." He began to show her the basics of baking, from measuring the ingredients to mixing them. He even showed her how to make a simple icing to top it off. After an hour of teaching, Melissa was able to bake a delicious cake. She was so proud of herself for learning something new.

Maxwell smiled as he saw Melissa's enthusiasm. "See, I told you that you can do it. Good job!"

"Thank you, sir, for teaching me how to bake a cake," Melissa smiled. "Can I ask you something?" Melissa questioned.

Maxwell raised his eyebrows in confusion, wondering what she wanted to ask. "Why are you helping me?" Melissa asked with a smile. "You saved my life, you allowed me to start my own life and you even helped me to divorce my case. Why are you doing these things for me?"

Maxwell opened his mouth, unsure of what to say. He couldn't tell her that he liked her, nor that she was carrying his child. After what she said about considering marrying again, he couldn't say anything without gaining her trust. "B-Because," he started, but his words were cut off by Tina who had just come in and called his name. He hated her, but today he was grateful to her for saving him from saying something that would have upset Melissa.

Tina called out seductively, "Maxwell, my love! I've brought you lunch today." She was confident after discovering the truth about Mellisa, and she knew that there was nothing between her and Maxwell. However, Maxwell was not pleased with her appearance.

He questioned her angrily, "Tina, what do you want here and what is this that you are wearing?" His displeasure was evident as he looked at her heavy makeup and the short dress that left all her butts out, making her look like nothing more than a prostitute.

Tina smiled smugly as she placed the plastic bag on the table and sauntered towards Maxwell, her seductive smile making her intentions clear. "Maxwell, I know you can't resist me," she purred, her smirk tinged with mockery. "I know there's nothing between you and this silly girl," she continued, her voice dripping with disdain. "I know you still love me, so let's just forget the past and move on honey," she said, closing the gap between them.

Mellisa, feeling uncomfortable, she quickly left the kitchen, not wanting to be reminded of the memories of Zick and his girlfriend. Her grievance with the situation was evident in her expression.

Maxwell had been completely taken in by Tina's beauty before, but all those feelings died the day she left him. In his eyes, she had become nothing more than a cheap, immoral woman and he had no interest in her anymore. All he could think about now was Melissa, and nobody else. "Look at yourself," he said sternly, "take off all this heavy makeup, dress appropriately, and if you still have any self-respect, then leave my house right now. My tastes have changed, I'm not interested in women like you anymore. Take your bag and get out." With that, Maxwell took the plate of cake and left the kitchen, leaving Tina alone.

Tina's heart sank as she clenched her fists in disbelief. No man had ever rejected her before, yet here she was, being called names by Maxwell. She was not about to let Mellisa take her place in his heart, and she was determined to do whatever it took to make him come back to her. She thought to herself, "You are mine, Maxwell, and I will prove it!" with a hint of displeasure in her tone. She was determined to make a big move and reclaim her rightful place in Maxwell's heart.
