Ruby stumbled a bit as the alpha told her he wanted to speak with her.
"Easy Ruby, I don't want you falling." The alpha tried to ease her nerves.
She simply smiled and mumbled an apology.
The song ended and the alpha bowed. Ruby went and sat. She started to not feel so well. It happened from time to time. Anxiety or panic attacks would sneak up on her from time to time.
She watched aunt Lulu march over to her and that did not help the feeling at all. Lulu could be a bit over powering.
Aunt Lulu was the unofficial match maker for the pack. She had a knack for it and she had been trying since Ruby was 18 to match her. "Ruby dear you look faint."
Ruby smiled, "I probably didn't eat enough dinner."
Aunt Lulu huffed, "A girl like you should know proper eating is important. Despite what t.v. says men like cushion on a woman."
Ruby sighed, "Aunt Lulu I have cushion to spare. I am quite content in my pleasantly plump form too. I just was caught up in the excitement of today."
Aunt Lulu grimaced, "Don't take a tone Ruby Lee. I think you are just the right size and shape fyi girly."
"Sorry Aunt Lulu." Ruby hugged her, "I just have a lot on my mind."
The older female sighed. She had known both her parents and could imagine what she was thinking.
"Ruby," A now familiar voice called.
Both turned to see Colt walking their way. Aunt Lulu smiled and whispered, "That man is a dessert that is sweeter than sin."
Ruby chuckled, "Aunt Lulu."
...........................
Colt obliged the little old lady called aunt Lulu in a dance. She was a handsy thing, but she was also full of gossip about his new favorite topic...Ruby Lee.
It seems Ruby's mother was a druid priestess who left her coven to marry Ruby's father. He indeed served with the pack alpha and Will in special ops.
Her mother's name was Daisy and she was tragically murdered. The killer never found.
Colt's heart ached for her. He noticed how Ruby stumbled while dancing. His wolf wanted to claim her.
He suspected Beau had known that.
The little pixie always told Colt his various dabblings would not satisfy his beast.
He always hated the truth of it.
Ruby called to him in a way he never felt with his past lovers. Ruby Lee was his fated mate.
...........................
Ruby felt calmer now Colt had come back. 'Strange. I wonder why?' She thought as he handed her a piece of cake.
"Beau and Joey snuck out already."
She smiled, "Good. For them."
Aunt Lulu clapped, "It's nearly midnight and this Cinderella is too old to stay up so late."
Hugging Ruby she winked at Colt and whispered, "You tend our Ruby well now."
Colt laughed, "It will be a pleasure."
