Chapter 14

I walked for hours after I left the river, the sun have set long ago and the thankfully bright moon was shinning in it's glory.

I would have walked for hours more, but the blisters on my feet is hindering my progress.

I decided to rest my feet a little before continuing on my journey, it wouldn’t make sense if am caught based on my feet’s inability to carry my weight anymore.

The chirping of creeping insects were my constant companions as I lay down on a fallen log to have a little nap.

I woke up with a start. Not knowing what caused my awakened vigilance, I took to my heels.

I would have ran till I faint from both thirst, fatigue, hunger and restless if not for the sweet aroma of cooked food that drifted by me.

Hungrily, I started the search for where the sweet aroma must be emanating from, not bothering to hide as I boldly walked to the place I saw smoke coming up from, a clear beckon to whoever it will that might be hungry like I am.

I couldn’t care less about my pursuers and their so called Alpha.

My mumbling stomach took me towards the origin of the sweet aroma.

Walking into a clearing in the forest, his back turned towards the pot on fire was a red haired male.

He was unaware of my presence as he hummed to the tune of a music.

“Can I have some food?”

I don’t have time for patience neither do I have for pleasantries.

He almost fell inside the pot _ thankfully it was an almost thing_ from fright but, luckily for my empty stomach, he didn’t.

“Don’t scare a person like that! “ he admonished with his palm on his heart.

I can literally feel his heart beating

“am sorry about that, but I really need some food."  I said unabashedly pointing to my stomach.

He smiled "I know how that feels."he  glanced up and down at me.

"Why  do you like a person the river chewed and spat out?” he playfully gestured at my clothes “you look like a cave man."

I blushed at his words, his piercing green eyes a good compliment to his red hair.

If not for the triplets, I wouldn’t mind dating a boy like him, not that am dating them, a boy can only hope.

"I look like this because the river actually spat me out. Am hungry." I said again in case he didn't hear me at first.

“Luckily for you my dear. I have more than enough for the both of us."

he grinned with a wink.

My cheeks must be as hot as a tomatoes.

Looking up at him , I found him looking intently at my chest.

as a reflex action, I covered my chest, without looking I can tell my clothes plastered to my chest.

He looked away, his cheeks red from embarrassment.

no need calling him out on his actions, it doesn’t help biting the hands that fed you, not that I wouldn’t fight back if he tries something inappropriate.

“Sorry about that,"  he blushed “lets eat."he  gestured to the food on the plates.

I didn’t wait for him to tell me the second time.

Taking a seat on the ground behind him, I rushed through the food. I really am too hungry to try saving face.

I don't care what he thinks of me.

“ take it easy the food isn’t running." he admonished with a smile.

"am … famished."

I said in between swallow.

He smiled at my words “don’t worry there’s still more in the pot for you."

“Can I have more?” I Asked  few minutes I started eating.

he gave me a knowing look which I returned with an innocent one

“I can’t help it, your soup is Soo out of the world." I really need to eat more of such a delicious meal.

he blushed at my compliments.

I haven’t met a guy that blushes as much as he does.

“It’s not all that delicious." he gave me four more scoopful as he took two more for himself.

"Thank you." I smiled in appreciation.

"You're welcome."

My sanity returned the moment my stomach was full. I looked around frantically for any sign of my pursuers.

how can I be so stupid as to momentarily forget all about my flight?

“Why is your expression suddenly alarmed?” he took a step towards me.

I shook my head “ it’s nothing, I must have heard an animal."I answered.

he raised a brow, but didn’t comment further on the subject.

I mentally slapped myself for my actions, I can't believe I don’t even know the name of the person that fed me talk more of who he is.

Looking around at the vast forest I couldn’t seem to reach the end of, I can tell we are alone since I haven’t heard the telltale sign of my pursuers.

“Am not trying to be inquisitive.

if you don’t mind, I will like to know what you’re doing alone in this vast dangerous forest." It's breakly funny asking who has is after I must have finished my meal.

he smirked “I could ask the same about you since you’re also alone on this vast dangerous forest." he mimicked me.

“To answer your question.

I was in a camping trip to Haji, but a small glitch on the way got me lost in this forest, luckily for me I was with a compass.

With it I can safely go back to Haji." He said as he showed me the said compass.

I smiled when I heard the mention of the town I was living in currently.

“what of you, how did you manage to find yourself here?”

I shrugged, since he told me how he came to be here, it’s only normal if am to tell him mine. I narrated all my ordeal not leaving any stone unturned.

He looked appalled when I told him of my kidnap "that’s one hell of an adventure."he  said when through with my tale.

“an adventure I wouldn’t like to repeat." I might have asked for an adventure, but not this one.

he scoffed “you can’t be too sure."

I was puzzled at his words “why did you say that?” .

he shrugged “my cousin was in the same position as you are now in and it didn’t end well for her."

I felt sorry for the poor soul, it reminds me of the girl thoise men were talking about when I was hiding in the river.

“What happened to her?”

he shook his head

“it’s a story for another day."
