Miguel’s POV
There wasn’t a place worth hiding in this God forsaken forest, the trees are all high up, and I’ve been walking for hours now with no hope of civilization.
Bulky must have realized my prank by now, and wouldn't be too far from catching up with me.
I almost felt sorry for him, he’s good guy who doesn’t deserve what was handed to him.
well it’s not my fault, it’s his so called Alpha’s fault that he’s in this predicament.
If they haven’t kidnapped me, he wouldn’t have been in this hot soup.
Running have taken Its toll on me.
I’m tired, thirsty, hungry and sleepy, but I dare not rest for fear of being caught.
who knows what they will do to if am to be caught?
My legs ache from lack of rest.
you will rest when the coast is clear.
I promised it.
“Check that side, he isn’t too far from here, shift if it comes to that, but don’t injure him."
I heard Bulky say, minutes later I heard footsteps running towards me.
I took to my heels taking great care not to alert them of my locations, the footsteps was sounding closer the more I ran faster.
“His scent is still fresh in this track!” I heard a voice shout “follow me, he’s not far from here, his scent is still fresh for him to be that far."
Am finished, I thought as I made a mad dash towards a cluster of trees. I can't afford to be caught.
When I thought all hope was lost.
I heard the sound of rushing water.
I can always recall what my eccentric Aunt always says
“go underwater, it will help mask your scent from the hellhounds."
back then, I normally smile whenever she starts her wild sayings, but right now I couldn’t be more grateful to her then wild words.
“Thanks Aunt." I murmured.
I slipped into the water, careful not to make a sound, no need announcing my location to the hell hounds.
I swam till I reached a place where trees were clustered on the river bank.
I can stay hidden while underwater.
I sent a message to any deity that might be existing.
“please let them not catch me." I prayed.
I can recall reading something similar like this from a passage but I can’t for the life of me Recall where I got it from, the passage read this.
“Keep me as the apple of your eyes, under the shadow of your wings from the wicked that oppress me my deadly enemies, who oppresses me."
I prayed according to the words.
Minutes after my prayer Bulky guy made an appearance, he stood where I stood minutes earlier before diving into the water.
He looked towards my new found hiding place and my heart skipped a beat thinking he’ve seen me.
I breathed out a sigh of relief when he turned towards the half naked males at his back.
“He must have swam, if he’s a good swimmer, but if he’s not." he shook his head.
“we’re dead men if the Alpha finds out the person he kept on our charge is missing." he looked scared.
The look on his face made me almost swim towards him, but I caught myself in the last minute.
What was I thinking?
That he will be lenient with me when I voluntarily goes back?
My efforts will then be wasted.
I rather die trying to go home to my parents and surprisingly the triplets than to willingly go back to my captors.
“Speak for yourself, you were the one the Alpha left him in the charge of. don’t think of putting the whole blame on us like you always do." a small intimidating man spoke up.
he wasn’t afraid of Bulky’s frame, nor was he intimidating by his muscles, instead he looked Bulky squarely in the face.
“You and I both know the Alpha’s wrath wouldn’t be on only one of us, but on the whole pack as well. You know how much he wants a Luna to the extent he kidnapped one from his mates because he wants to father a pup?” Bulky looked ready to cry.
This Alpha must be a mafia since his job is to kidnap innocent victims.
I feel sorry for the poor girl he kidnapped, who knows what the poor girl must be passing through in his hands?
Dince the wicked wouldn’t go unpunished, am hoping Karma finds him quickly.
“What are we going to do now?” a boy almost my age was the one who spoke up.
I wonder how people can be so heartless as to keep others against their will, look at me.
I can’t even hurt a mosquito _even if it bites me_ talk more of harming a fellow human.
“Lets search round the river, with our luck we might find him before the Alpha returns from the meeting he went to." Shorty spoke up, it’s not my fault I keep giving them names that aren’t theirs.
I just can’t help it, since I don’t know their names, it’s only appropriate I call them names based on their looks.
“How can we possibly find him before the Alpha comes home, knowing the river is vast and don’t forget it connects to the Haji pack?
we all know that a member of another pack can’t cross over to the other pack without the prior notice of their Alpha."
Bulky waved him off “we managed to sneak in without detection earlier, we can also try our luck, hopefully their Alphas will be in a meeting. now, we’ve spent enough time talking instead of doing the work in hand, let’s start the search before it’s too late." with that said, they dispatched.
When I was sure the coast was clear, I came out of my hiding place, it’s obvious I need to be on the move asap, before the catch me, hopefully I will stumble on a familiar path.
With my aching hands I swam forward.
Who knows, they might catch me faster if I walk on dry ground.
no need risking it if I can help it.
