Chapter 157

Miguel's pov

We walked for a long time till I thought we will never reach our destination.

The town we walked through looks more like a ghost town than one people are living in.

Looking at the closed doors, you will think there's no one living in those houses, but I have a hunch the owners are in there.

They are inside there watching as we walk past their Houses. This is another odd thing about the towners. They mostly stay indoors.

Aiden is the only one I've seen out more times than the number of times the entire village comes out, and that's saying something.

"We're here," Aiden announced the moment he stopped in front of the only brick house close to the mud ones. The house we stopped in front of looks more like something a kid drew on a paper.

It wasn't odd or anything, but its size is actually comical to look upon.

The house was brown in colour, it's zinc looks to be red, but there's no way to be actually sire because of the thick mist surrounding his house.

"What's up with all this mist in your town?" I look up at Aiden who's already at the door to his house having climbed there short steps to it.

He shrugs "we leave near the mountainous region. That will explain the presence of the mist."

Mountainous region?

I resisted the urge to roll my eyes at his words. Why wasn't Haji park filled with mist as thick as the ones here?

Haji park have three mountains surrounding it from the east, why then haven't they had something akin to this?

I look at the mist, and back at Aiden who was patiently waiting for me in front of his door.

There's no use telling him of my doubts since he's hellbent on not telling me what this mist represents.

"I will be there," I carried the stroller despite how heavy it is, and walked up the three stairs.

"You know you could have asked me to help you," Aiden raised a brow at the stroller in my hand.

"Am capable of carrying my own kids. Thank you very much."

I don't know why am having a hard time trusting him with my kids. It might because he's still a stranger to me. One I met when I came to this town.

That must be the reason why I don't yet trust him. Mond and Solomon are different because I've known them from before.

That might be the reason I feel comfortable with them.

He shook his head at my words, and turned to unlock his door.

"After you," he stepped aside and gestured for me to walk in, and I did without much thoughts about it.

I guess I've decides to blindly trust him on things.

I don't know what I expected the inside of his house to look like, but it wasn't what I saw.

His sitting room was decorated with a waterfall wallpaper that perfectly complimented the blue paint colour.

Three sofas were strategically placed, each having a small side stool beside it.

On his wall is a large television. Something I never thought a person from this town. an possess.

"You have a television? You watch movies?" I raised a brow at him in question.

Is the mist somehow an antenna?

"And why do you look like it's an Impossibility?" he equally raised a questioning brow at me.

I shrug "I don't peg the people of this town to owe so much as a television."

I placed my stroller in the space a table would have occupied if Aiden have one.

" And what do you peg us as? do we look like ancient barbarians to you?"

His question to me holds no fire to it, it was playful.

"Who knows the type of barbarians you might be. Maybe the ones who cut off human heads and chants with them, running round in circles, and making incantations to the gods of the stars,"

This was exactly how the barbarians in the movie I watched offered sacrifices to their gods.Sacrifices that turned out to be the heads of the unfortunate strangers that found themselves in their village.

"I think your idea of a sacrifice is really dope. We can make use of a thing or two from it." Aiden nods "the elders will welcome your suggestions. For months now we've been looking for ways to spice up our ways of sacrifice, and you've provided it.

Thanks for your wonderful idea."

" You don't mean it right?" I blink at him. Is he trying yo play with me or what? "

I don't think he knows really mean it like that. No way will he's really owing to the fact they offer sacrifices with human heads.

"You were the one who said so. Answer your question since you seem to know more about us than we know ourselves," he rolls his eyes at me.

I protectively held on to my stroller as I tried to decode his words.

I want to know if he's seriously saying they accept human sacrifice because am not getting a hang of his words.

"You're playing right? you're using my words against me and that's all." I said it as both a conviction to me and to the male who's trying to convince me he's as barbaric as I said just now.

"That's the reason I lured you to my house Miguel. We need to sacrifice to put gods, and you happened to be out choosen person. Your babies might be next, our gods likes fresh meat.

Soooo....." he smirked " what will you like to have? I have blood and flesh," he winked.

I paled more at his words.

" Blood and flesh?" I blinked at him. Is he for real?

" Blood and flesh? why are you thinking that? It seems you have a very imaginative mind filled with gores and horrible things," he points a finger at me " you shouldn't be talking of those horrible things in front of this babies.
