Chapter 29: Different Moods
I never knew what she had in mind, why would she want me to shift it to tomorrow. What is she planning to do?
So many thoughts ran through my mind and I couldn't come up with a single explanation for such action.
My telephone rang and when I picked up the call, it was the secretary
"Sir the meeting is about to start, please make your way to the conference room"- She said with a soft voice
"I am on my way"- I replied and hung up immediately
while walking straight to the conference room, my eyes went straight to my secretary buttocks. My goodness, she has a nice backside that any man would kill for.
I kept staring at it while she quietly walked to the room. But she eventually caught me, and she only smiled
perhaps she had a crush on me whatsoever. Don't really know, I walked into the room where all the workers are seated
They all greeted me and I took my sit in the Manager's chair
"Welcome sir, the CEO has been waiting for you"- Our programmer said
The secretary turned on the big screen before us and we all braced up for the meeting
My dad appeared and they all greeted him except me and they somehow noticed it
"Thank you all, we have to bring another new game into existence, it's going to be called "Dog chase""- The CEO replied to our greetings
"Okay sir, so how is the game going to be like, should we start making preparations to develop the game right now"- Our software developer asked
"No, I will soon arrive in the united states, then we can talk about it in person"- He replied
I didn't even seem to care about the new game whatsoever, all that's on my mind is how I would enjoy myself when I get to Atlanta Georgia.
"What do you think about this son"- My dad called out to me
I was shocked when he mentioned the word son, my mind had initially travelled to another dimension entirely.
"It's nice can't wait to supervise the development and all the materials required for the game"- I replied
"That's okay, this meeting is over, you all can get back to your duties now"- He replied
I quickly got up from my chair and went straight to my office to relax for a while before our usual lunch break.
I got to my office and I sat down thinking about what my father wants to tell me when he gets back. He knows that I am angry with him for his absence during the early stage of my life and there is no way he can try to mend things back because I won't find it easy to start relating with him all of a sudden
I reached out for my bottle water and I gulped some down my throat, it was a relief though.
Gabriel's POV
I felt so fulfilled when I finally brought the money home and the joy of my parents knew no bounds, it was a happy moment.
"So what is the first thing we are going to do with all these cash?"- My mom asked
"Please let's lock the doors and make sure everywhere is secured first, don't want anyone to walk in and see all these cash"- My father replied while getting up from his chair to lock the door and close the curtains
my dad is an expert when it comes to doing secret things and I know that he will keep this money from his friends. He may look somehow greedy but he is never greedy to his family, especially I and my mom.
That's one thing that I love about him, he got back to chair and took a note book and pen to write down the important things that we need in the house
"First of all, we need to pay up our rent because it is almost due and the landlord will soon be on our necks again"- He said with a soft and calm voice
"You are right darling, let's quickly pay him off for a year, at least it would give us time to look for a more luxury home to rent. Some luxury homes around here won't be above the price range of $400,000."- my mom said
"You are right, or should we just buy a home and move out instead of paying the landlord a whooping sum of $100,000 for the full year. Because having our own home would give us rest of mind, knowing that it is ours for life"- My dad asked
"Dad I think we should get a new home, and a good one at that. A nice average home with four bedrooms and a beautiful designed living room won't cost more than $500,000 if it's too expensive.
At least let's own our very a house for once in our lives. Can't wait to be the son of a house owner"- I replied jokingly
My dad smiled at me, he was impressed by my words and I could literally see it in his eyes when he touched my cheek
"You are getting wise everyday son, I like that"- He said
"Okay, so if we minus $500k from $850k then we would be left with $350k to start up a business and buy other things for ourselves"- My mom replied
They didn't minus my own share of the money, that's not fair at all. They don't own all the money here, I have my own cut
"No mom, Kelvin's mom said that $50k belongs to me and Andrew equally gave me another $50k. Making it a $100k. I need the money too, I want to start up and online gaming channel and also buy some important things that I will need"- I interrupted
They both looked at me as if I stole something and the look on their eyes gave me the impression that they want to rob me of my own share
"Well, if that's so. we will give you your own share of the money if only your promise to spend it wisely. Because nobody will give you anything if you should foolishly spend it on unnecessary things"- My dad replied
Our discussion lasted for a period of two hours till we finally spilt all the cash, my dad went out with his own share to look for a good home to buy and my mom equally went out to do some other things and restructure her business.
I was the only left at home, I didn't know if I should go and get some of the things I need to start up the gaming channel or should I just wait a little longer to make sure I organize some other things first?.
Just then, Andrew called me on the phone
"What's up bro, how are you doing. Hope your day is going great?"- He asked
"Yeah my day is going fine, I just want to thank you for the money you gave me. I really appreciate it, you are a good friend"- I thanked him
"That's nothing bro, just get prepared because the both of us will leave for Atlanta Georgia on Monday. So make all your necessary arrangements for the journey"- He replied
"That won't be a problem at all. I will just inform my parents about the journey once they return back"- I replied while hanging up the call
I went straight to the kitchen to fix myself some nice food for lunch. I was quite hungry at the moment.
And after I finished preparing the noodles, I ate and slept like a baby
Mariam's POV (Andrew's mother)
When Andrew left the house that morning, I felt so empty inside. He was not the little boy I used to know, he has completely changed recently and I don't know what's happening anymore
I sat down on my bed thinking about the whole issue for a while till I got a call from my sister Stella
"Good afternoon my dearest sister, how are you doing today"- She asked
I looked so tired, I don't even know what to say. I am so confused at this moment and I don't know why
"Mariam is everything okay, please answer me. Don't keep my hanging like this"- She asked
"Everything is not okay Stella, my son is acting strange these days and I don't know if it's because I told him that he would be traveling to Nigeria to stay with you and work in my husband's company?"- I replied
"What did he say first of all, did he agree?"- Stella asked
"He disagreed, and I suspect that he is hiding something. Don't know what he is planning and I am really scared"- I replied with a shaky voice
"Don't be scared my sister, have you told his father about this recent change in his character?"- She asked
"I haven't mentioned anything to him yet, he will soon be back from his trip and he will surely be at home today before his next business appointment"- I replied
"don't panic, just inform your husband about it and I convince him to ensure that Andrew doesn't go against his orders. Teenagers of these days are trying to run faster than their own shadow.
Just monitor his movements and ensure he doesn't try to leave the house till Friday. He doesn't have a choice to decide where he wants to be, you are his mother and he must listen and obey your instructions no matter the circumstances, do you hear me?" She asked
"I have heard you sister, I will do as you have instructed"- I replied while hanging up the call
I felt quite relieved by her words, she usually knows how to lighten up my mood when I am down and confused. I went straight to my shelf and switched on the plasma television in my room
At least let me enjoy some of my favorite comedy shows before I would go out to see my therapist.
I picked up my phone and called my personal assistant,
"Good afternoon ma, how can I be of help?"- She replied
"Tell the maids to bring some watermelon and a glass of juice to my room. tell them to be fast about it"- I replied
"Alright I will tell them right away"- She replied
I lied down on my bed while enjoying the show like a little kid
"Sarah's POV (Kelvin's mom)
I got up from bed so early today and I went straight to my computer to check some things, I remember that Kelvin wanted to tell me something yesterday.
Perhaps I should call him and ask him what's the matter
"Mr Rooney please call Kelvin for me"- I said
Mr Rooney went straight to Kelvin's room to wake the little prince from his slumber. It's already 12pm and I guess he won't be asleep by this time of the day
"Mr Kelvin, your mother wants to speak you with"- He called out to him with a soft voice
"I will be down in a second"- Kelvin screamed out loud from his room to the extent that he could heard miles away
he later came down and sat besides me on the sofa after sending his morning greetings
"Can't believe you stayed in your room up till this time, you haven't even taken your breakfast. is anything the matter?"- I asked with curiosity
"No mom, I didn't feel like eating this morning that's why I remained in my room doing other things"- He replied with a smile
"You wanted to tell me something yesterday but I was too tired to listen, so what's did you want to tell me before"- I asked
He seemed to have forgotten about what he wanted to say, because his facial expression was quite odd and I could vividly see that he doesn't seem to remember what he had in mind yesterday.
"I have actually forgotten, but I will speak to you about it once I remember. By the way, how was your night, hope you have taken your medications?"- He asked with a soft voice
"Yes I have darling, thanks for asking"- I replied while standing up to get myself dressed and head over to the office
"Go and get dressed son, we have a lot of work at the office today and we also need to get the supplies from the warehouse today"- I called out to him
"Don't worry about that Mom, I am all set. Just give me 5 minutes to get dressed, I have already taken my bath"- He replied while walking straight to the kitchen to fetch his breakfast from the maid on duty
"Micheal's POV
I woke up quite late today, but I didn't even worry about that because I don't even have anything meaningful to do today. I took a leave from my work place and i even regreted why I took such decision.
It's so boring to be at home all day with just one girl that tries her best to make me smile
"Good morning sunshine, how was your night"- My girlfriend asked
"It was fine, where is my phone. I can't find it and I placed it on the shelf before going to bed"- I asked
She acted weird when I asked for my phone, as she quickly brought it out from the back pocket of her shorts.
"What is my phone doing in your pocket this time, did you go through my chats again?"- I asked with a serious look on my face because I know what she is capable of.
She looked so tensed up and short of words, what did she even do with the phone. I don't trust her when it comes to my phone. She is capable of doing anything, the other time, she went through my chats and started an argument with a lady that she doesn't even know. She is just too jealous for my liking and I can't cope with that bad attitude of her's
"Ummm, I only used it to play candy crush. I was bored when I woke up and I kinda used your phone to keep myself busy"- She replied with a shaky voice
I knew she was lying, because she gets nervous anytime she is trying to cover up something from me
"You are lying, what happened to your phone. Why would you want to play games with mine?"- I asked while standing up to take the phone from her
I don't know what instructed me to check my call log, but when I checked it, I saw that she used my phone to fall Andrew few minutes ago
"Why did you call Andrew, is anything the matter. What are you trying to hide from me Babe?"- I asked while leaning close to her face
"Okay fine, you caught me, I was only trying to beg him to shift the journey to tomorrow. I am tired to staying at home all day
I can't wait to visit Atlanta Georgia, I heard it's a nice place to live. Let's travel tomorrow baby, he would come and meet us there"- She replied while hugging and dragging me to herself for a kiss
