A Big Loss

He got to her ward and got in wordlessly. He met chills and shivered.

Indeed how life snaps out of us"

He thought and walked towards the body lying still on the bed covered with white sheet.

A tear dropped from his eyes, somehow he felt he was careless and not watchful enough that's why she has to die but what could he have done?. His mind kept replaying his last moments with her.

"I don't know why you have to die but this is state you are in is not what is supposed. Who do you leave the baby for, Susan?"

He was almost breaking up but manned up.

He careful lift the sheet and stared at the pale face for a few minutes without saying a word. He slowly place the sheet back and turned around.

He felt a presence behind him then spun around ready to snap at whoever it was. When he turned around, he saw nothing. He sighed then left the ward heartbroken.

Tasha point of view…..

I, mom and Trucy sat at dinner staring at our breakfast. We could not bring ourselves to eat even though we are hungry.

Jenny's mom had called and told us the sad story and ever since then, we have not be able to lift fingers. I wonder what happened. Did she has complications? The question has been bugging me since and I can't find answers to it. Mom did not get to ask her how it happened.

"Mom, I don't get it, do people just die like that?"

I asked, confused .

Mom was still staring down at the table, but then looked at me with a tired smile on her face. She tried hard to smile but failed terribly. She looked so exhausted, it reminded me of the day we found out grandma had died. She looked so fragile, like she couldn't hold her own weight. Her eyes showed pain and fear.

"No Tasha, please don't die like that."

She replied in a whisper.

"It's rather unfortunate that we have to lose Susan. I just can't imagine how her mother is fairing right now. I am like this, what more the mother?"

I reached for her hand gently rubbing it. Then mom looked at my plate of food then looked away

"Come here."

She motioned for me to sit next to her. So I did.

I rested my head on her shoulder while she stroked my hair lovingly.

I guess it's better not to talk about things that might make us cry. Trucy leaned forward too and hugged her,

"Mom we will pass, God knows best why she has to die."

Trucy said with a sad smile

Tears began streaming down mom's cheeks,

"Oh my Susan..!"

Trucy hugged her tighter holding her tightly,

"Mom you don't have to do this, I know it hurts but put yourself together"

Trucy consoled her, my own tears were welling up too, remaining to pour.

Being strong has nothing to do with losing a loved one. Susan was never a friend but she made up for the big sis I never had

Mom cried harder and held me tighter,

"Everything will be alright, trust me, mom."

I said, placing a kiss on her cheek. She smiled softly and wiped off her tears

"Thank you sweetie."

I kissed her cheek again smiling.

Mom looked up to us, tears still falling

"Alright, I'll try to put aside my pain for now"

Mom said and we both nodded,

"Let's get some fuel into our belly so that if we have to cry we will have the energy"

I said, trying to make a joke. Someone has to crack a joke.

My statement brought smiles on our faces and we laughed over the joke.

Mom dished our breakfast of bacon and eggs and graced the meal afterwards. We ate in silence, the mood had changed so much it scared us. Hopefully we will be fine, this is a big loss to all of us.

Jenny's point of view....

Zain understood my mood and did not follow me back to the room.

Since I got back into the room I have been staring at nothing with my phone in my hand. I just don't know if I have the courage to tell Miss Celine. Her heart is so fragile that she can't handle such news but it would be unfair if I don't let her know. I consider her part of the family.

So after a while I finally managed to take a deep breath and call her.
