You're Really Pretty

Lucas stood behind his bar tapping on the wine holder, he was deeply worried. He had tried calling Jenny to know how she is doing but her phone did not go through.

He felt restless. He had really wanted to hear her voice before going to bed.

"What am I supposed to do now?"

He asked himself hissing.

"You wait till morning then call her"

Something said at the back of his mind. He had no choice but to agree to that.

Owen tucked Mercy to bed and he could not stop himself from kissing her forehead. There came with the sense of familiarity again.

Mercy had her stares on his face, searching for a clue that she knows this guy.

It doesn't make sense to her that she would feel so much attached to a stranger and her dad had to trust this stranger enough to leave her in his care. What can that be called?

The old man had the audacity to call and ask Owen to look after her that he is not coming back until tomorrow morning. What kind of a father would do that kind of stuff?

It just makes no sense and she couldn’t quite understand it. But she was happy nonetheless that she is with him.

She wanted him in a kind of way that she can't understand, it's like her head and heart are walking at the same pace. She has seen him look at her and she is not blind to know that he wants her the same way she wants him. She doesn’t know why but the feeling lingers.

She had felt drawn to him since their first encounter and it feels even more intense now. She can feel his hand on hers, his fingers intertwined with hers.

"You're really pretty." He said suddenly startling her out of her daydreaming.

"What?" she asked, blushing furiously.

He smiled and before he could stopped himself, he kissed her hard on her lips. It was soft and gentle but she can feel his heart pounding inside his chest against her own chest.

His hands went up her hair and pulled her closer making her forget about the fact that she has a patch above her heart, right there in her chest, any violent movement could be disastrous.

It was as if Owen understand the consequences of kissing a lady whose heart is healing, he broke the kiss and stared at her

"I like the kiss and I am not sorry, get well soon enough, I want to know what it feels like to make love to you" He mumbled kissing her for the last time.

Her face reddened and she hid it on the pillow, Owen smiled and made her shift a little then settled beside her on the bed. It was big enough for two people.

"I hope you don't mind me sleeping beside you tonight?"

He asked, grinning.

"I don't mind at all" She responded smiling and snuggled under the covers.

They lay there together, talking softly and enjoying each other's company until they fall asleep.

Vivian sat at her tiny dining table eating her dinner. She had really wanted to go to bed without eating but after thinking of the pain Alice had to go through to make her dinner, she decided to eat. It's about satisfying one's conscience. It's not everyday someone gets to cook for you.

Drinking the last drop of her milk, she picked the glass and her empty plates then headed towards the kitchen to dispose of them.

She was right under her nighties and the next thing in her mind was to sit for a while to see a movie or probably surf the internet before going to bed.

She contemplated which to do on her way to the living room and decided she should do both, while seeing a movie, she should know what's going on around here.

She settled comfortably on the couch then turned the tv on and picked her phone. She selected a mild romance movie on Netflix then opened her browser.

She was so engrossed in what she was doing that she did not realize that her doorbell had been ringing for a while.

The last ring made her jump and almost fall from the couch. She hurriedly got up from the couch and rushed towards her door to let whoever it was in.

As soon as the door was open, the smiling face of David met her.

"Hey there, sweetheart." he greeted with a big grin on his face.

"Hi. Um... can I help you?" She said with confusion written all over her face.

David chuckled at her answer then pushed her gently so she would let him into her home.

"Is this how to welcome your boyfriend?"

"Huh, boyfriend?" She asked again, confused. David stared at her confused by her attitude," what? I don't get it, have you forgotten I asked you out today?"

"Oh? sorry, I kind of not put my mind there. Pardon me, I can't remember being anyone's girlfriend"

David did not know if this is part of what he is going to be getting but did not want to dwell much on the thought so he shook his head, locked the door and did what he had wanted to do all day.
