CHAPTER 207

" Beg her to spare my life Miss Ruth. I don't want to die" said the doctor as he folded his arms before Ruth left the office. 

Ruth looked at the doctor filled with lots of anger. She found it hard to want to listen to the doctor and fulfill his plea. Ruth had been hurt alot which made him look at the doctor with total silence.

In a jiffy, Ruth decided to leave the office which made the doctor to follow him. 

" Stop! I am not the one who is after your life. Why then are you pleading with me to protect you? Who are you scared of doctor?" Asked Ruth in a lower voice.

 Ruth did not really want to catch the attention of the other people. All what Ruth wanted was to leave the hospital before Evelyn started doubting that Ruth was doubting her.

" She told me that she would kill me if she I told you the truth about her. Please don't leave the hospital and spare my life" said the doctor in a pellucid voice.

" I am sorry doctor but I have alot of things to do outside this hospital. I will not waste my time only because you want something to be done that will spare your life. Do not worry then. Evelyn is going to leave the hospital with me. Nothing bad will happen to you" said Ruth smiling who left to her ward. 

As soon as she arrived, Ruth found everyone seated there wondering where she had gone. All of them had actually thought that Ruth had ran away from the hospital. Faith, Naomi and Purist immediately went and hugged Ruth as soon as they saw her. They were happy that all their thoughts of Ruth escaping from the hospital was a lie. 

" Alright! Stop making me to become too emotional. I have got the discharge approval from the doctor. I am now free to leave this hospital. All thanks to grandma Evelyn" said Ruth smiling as she looked at Evelyn.

Ruth noticed that Evelyn was not looking happy yet she did not really want Evelyn to know the fact that she was spying on her. 

" I will go and get a taxi to take us out of this town" said Evelyn but Ruth suddenly stopped her by holding her arm. 

" No grandma Evelyn. We are not going to leave this town right away. We still have to visit Jackson's family and I still have to stop Vivian and Lawrence from being rulers of this town. They have no humanity and conscious at all. I cannot leave sick Ryan and poor Nelly to them. No! Let Faith abd Purist to go and get the taxi. Stay here with mama and help me pack my clothes" said Ruth.

" But Ruth I ....." Said Evelyn but Ruth suddenly interrupted her. 

" No grandma Evelyn. Don't say anything but follow my wish" said Ruth as she embraced Evelyn. 

Evelyn got angry and therefore pushed Ruth away. She then forcefully held Ruth's arm scaring Ruth as her eyes turned to red. 

" I will go and call the taxi. You will not have anything more to do with the Mariana's family. You are not going to Jackson's place either. You are going back to Olam town. Oh! So sorry. I was only joking. Ofcourse Purist and Faith should go and call the taxi. I will stay here and help you pack your clothes together with Naomi" said Evelyn smiling.

" And you better learn not to misuse your witches power madam. There are people who are more powerful than you out there. You must understand that. Why are you looking at me like that? I am also joking. Purist and Ruth should leave now" said Ruth smiling as she signalled to Purist and Faith to leave who left the ward. 

Ruth therefore gave Evelyn her suitcase to assist her to carry. Ruth had choosen Evelyn to stay behind for a purpose. She knew that if Evelyn left, then Evelyn was going to harm the doctor. Ruth indeed felt that she had done the right thing to protect the doctor and promised herself that she was not going even for a while to let Evelyn out of her sight till they finally got out of the hospital. 

" Evelyn! Tell me alot more things that you knew in the past about my grandma Magdalene" said Ruth filled sith lots of doubts. 

Evelyn knew that Ruth's replies would her know Evelyn's mission in her life.

" Why do you want us to talk about Magdalene? She is gone and I don't really think that we should talk about those who are dead" Said Evelyn. 

" But you know that my grandma lives in my heart. How can I forget about her so easily like that? Even my own mama has not forgotten about my grandma. We were so close to her and we loved her very much. She will never stop reigning in our hearts. Do you understand that Evelyn?" Asked Ruth filled witb lots of fury. 

Ruth was unable to control her anger. She did not want Evelyn to realize that she had started doubting her. So she decided to leave the ward. She knew that Evelyn and Naomi would finish arranging all of her clothes in the suitcase.

Ruth decided to visit Ryan and Nelly. She had not yet informed them that she had gotten the discharge approval and wanted to leave. Ruth was astonished to find out that Nelly and Ryan were not in the ward. Fear gripped her heart as she left the ward and went to the doctor's office.

Ruth knew that it was not the right time for Ryan to be discharged yet they were not anywhere around the hospital or in Ryan's ward. 

As soon as she arrived at the doctor's office, Ruth was astonished to find Evelyn there. This made her to be filed with lots of worries for the doctor as she had left Evelyn at her ward.

" Grandma Evelyn! What are you doing here?" Asked Ruth.

" Well! I am here to appreciate the doctor for all what he has done for you. That's all. Shall we go?" Asked Evelyn.

" Please go ahead. I will be with you in a short while. I really need to have a private conversation with the doctor" said Ruth.

Ruth therefore waited for Evelyn to leave before she could say anything. 

" Where is Ryan? Have you discharged him?" Ruth asked the doctor in a commanding manner.

" Yes Ruth. I have discharged Ryan. His brother and sister-in-law have paid me alot of money to discharge them. I know you understand that people like me love money. I do not care about his state anyway" said the doctor laughing annoyingly.

" What did you just say? Do you know who I am? It seems you've got no any idea about it. Now you will see the true colours of an angry Lawyer. How can you discharge somebody who has not fully recover because of your greed for money? Do you even have a heart? Now I will tell Evelyn that I know about the deal she had made with you earlier. I thought that I was trying to protect a honest doctor but you are just too dishonest" said Ruth who left the office. 

She did not even give the doctor a chance to defend himself. This made the doctor to be filled with lots of fear. 

He took all his important files from the drawer and put them in his briefcase that was on top of the table .The doctor knew that this was his chance to escape. There was nothing else that the doctor ofor could really do.

He had wilingly quit his job as doctor which was hardly impossible, he was the only doctor present in that hospital which was far from any other nearby hospital. 

Ruth decided to go back to the office. She wanted to inform the doctor that she had already forgiven him and was going to defend him no matter what. 

Unluckily, Ruth was a few minutes late. The doctor had already boardered a taxi outside the hospital and left.

This made Ruth to get out of the hospital as soon as she could. She boardered a taxi and quickly followed the doctor to his home. This made the doctor to stop in the middle of the road. He was already tired of being followed by Ruth. This made him to order the taxi driver to stop.

" What do you want from me Ruth? Is it not enough that I you've gotten discharged ? Why don't you leave me alone?" Asked the doctor filled with lots of anger.

" What about the other patients? Will they have to die because you are escaping from my grandma Evelyn? Don't put your work as a doctor into a test like this" said Ruth as she went towards the doctor and knelt pleading for the doctor to come back to the hospital. She really hated seeing someone cry in pain.
