Chapter 39

"When I saw Bryan approaching the basketball court, he would try to kill you two, so I distracted him, that was the day I knew you were a supernatural," he explained. I was speechless, but I knew he'd figure it out on his own one day. I didn't want to interrupt because I thought he had something else to say.

“I'm also puzzled as to why you didn't inform Josh. I later discovered Josh's family are hunters who hunt supernatural beings, which you would be in danger of telling, but I'm not sure what you'll do now that Bryan knows who you are, and obviously he will tell Josh's father, even if he doesn't tell Josh," Jack added.

"Bryan is aware!" I exclaimed. "He was at the party last night," he said. "Are you certain?" I requested confirmation. He recalled. "I'm sure I remember. I noticed him there. I was just a little buzzed,” He responded by nodding.

That means Bryan was the one who killed the guy at the party. I believe he was trying to convey a message to me. "You have to keep an eye on your back; he's coming for you," he warned. "I guess," I said softly, "Thank you for understanding why I didn't tell you." "That's what brothers do for one another," he explained. "I'll let you know if I find anything," he said, standing up to leave. "Are you already on your way?" I inquired. "Yeah, I'm going to Bella's house," he said, smiling. "Ouuu, bad guy," he said as he sped away in his ride; I could keep my secret hidden from them all, but they'll find out one way or another.

My phone started ringing as I stood up to go to the restaurant down the street. "Lydia, what does she want again?" I asked as I reached into my pocket. I thought to myself. "Come over to Miss Lisa's house, I found something," she said when I answered the phone. "OK, I'll be there shortly," she said as she hung up the phone. I put my phone back in my pocket. I wasn't pleased with myself for picking up the phone. I was curious as to what she had discovered in her home.

*********

Lydia and I were in Miss Lisa's secret library in her basement. There was a large shelf with collection’s of books. There was also a table and chair where she could probably read.

Lydia was sitting in the chair, and I was standing next to her, looking over the books in  the shelf. "I discovered a note in one of her diaries," she explained. "A note," I exclaimed. "What does it say?" I inquired.

"It says GET THE DAGGER OF ORCUS," she said aloud. "The Orcus  dagger," I said once more. "Have you heard of it?" she inquired. "No, I'm just curious why it's so important to get the dagger," I replied. "Yes, I suppose it's pertinent. Let me see what I can find out about the dagger "She stated.

I walked around the library, checking the doors, while she went through the dairy. "Have you seen anything about the dagger?" I asked. "No," she said, "but I think I know who to ask." "Who?" "An old vampire who should know about it?" I replied.
