Chapter 57

   New day, new adventure, coupled with new complications, I had to face my mom, luckily she didn't remind me, I guess I could sneak out for some time,I need time to think.

     I called Peter,then told him everything,well not everything I can't tell him Athena made my Mom and brother sleep , life can be so stressful at times, after this little issue I can go back to my mission .

       Peter agreed to show up by 9am, I guess I have been unnecessarily busy till 9am. I even avoided David, though we had an appointment with my 7  odd, I still had to avoid him. Peter came over and sat in the Parlour.

   Along with Miss Anna who surprisingly came along with Peter,this is embarrassing, it's not a marriage proposal, " my dear friend Rita" Miss Anna started the meeting, " we are here....she cleared her throat before she continued 

    " Our children love each other,  beyond the friend zone" she said before resting her back on the couch, my mom looked at me,then at Peter, I swallowed the saliva in my mouth immediately I noticed her intense gaze on my face.

     " Reth, peter…. She called our  names, making us leap up in fear, " ma!" We answered in unison, .." you guys are dating?"She said, I guess it's quite obvious it's the reason for the meeting. Why is she asking?

      " Yes mom" I said  in a feeble tone, ``this meeting isn't going the way I expected, " she looked at miss Anna, she opened her mouth to say some but nothing came out, she rested on the couch, then stood up, she paced around.

     This is not what I expected, I was hoping to be yelled at, even spanked or slapped, I would have never imagined silence, " our fear Anna" she said as she looked at miss Anna, what does she mean by our fear?, what are they afraid off?.

   " How long have you known?" She asked Miss Anna as she sat back on the couch, " I only knew yesterday." Miss Anna responded, `I feel they are keeping  secrets away from me, like they always do.

    " Well children, we are speechless" my mom said, I was left in a state of confusion, I just need a suitable reaction, I just want to know if it's ok by them to date peter, " we have something we would love to share" miss Anna said, as she stared deeply Into my mom's eyes.

   Clarifying my doubt, they were hiding something from me, " should I read their minds?" Athena said, " not now, Athena,I love the suspense" kailani added, the suspense was eating me up, what are they keeping away from me?

   " You can't date Peter, Reth," Miss Anna said. It wasn't what I was expecting from her, I expected disapproval  from my mom, not Anna, " why?" Peter asked, he was as shocked as I was.

     " When we figured out that our children were switched at birth, that was when you had an accident Reth" Miss Anna said, ``I know that they ran a blood test in other to confirm the birth mother of the child.

    " Well we did a blood test, and we found out that both of you have the same genotype" she added, well that's painful, but odd what does my genotype have to do with my love for Peter.

    " Yes the both of you have the same genotype, both of you are carriers of sickle cell" my mom said,"  bummer" Athena said, I felt pain engult me, this clearly miss i would never marry peter, even after peter, I won't want to give birth to sickle cell children.

    They would be discriminated against, in the midst of future friends, " and we checked your destinies, after taking advice from the nurse who performed the test on the both of you, and unfortunately the both of you, are destined to get married to each other.

     I was amazed, so they made research for us in advance and didn't tell us?That's just nice, but I really love Peter, so what they are trying to say is that I won't end up with Peter, I can't take this, I made an attempt to Stand but I couldn't.

   Peter was oddly quiet,.he hasn't said, anything," we are sorry, but we hoped the both of you won't go that path, that's why we kept our distance" my mom said, but i couldn't help but stare at the women before me, what else are they hiding?.

    So I was afraid of telling them I was in love with Peter, and they already knew,just a year of my birth, I shouldn't be surprised, but at least they should be aware that Destiny can only be delayed but can't be denied.

    I will make things happen, but I can't get myself to stop loving Peter,and I guess he can't do the same, " I know it's a lot to take in, but I was hoping for a change," my mom said.

   Peter kept staring at our parents, he hadn't said anything, he looked at them for a while, while I stared at his face, he held my hands then caressed them, I felt a rush of happiness engulf me. 

   " Thanks for the revelation, but we would make things happen" he said as he kissed my knuckles," mom are you against it?", He asked, our parents were speechless, I knew they were not happy with our union either but they had no option.

   " Make your decisions wisely", Miss Anna said, she looked at my mom as she exhaled deeply, " we tried our best", she said as she looked at my mom, " how did you know?" My mom asked.

   Shit, does she have to ask, I hope miss Anna doesn't tell her the truth, peter held my hand firmly, we were nervous, and anticipating further, milliseconds were like hours, miss Anna had a painful smile on her face.

   She might say the truth, unfortunately " they were kissing in the room " miss Anna said, Athena fell to the floor as she burst out in laughter, she is so annoying, kailani didn't do the opposite,they were really enjoying this moment.
