I feel guilty dragging her into this mess with me, but what can I do? She is my partner. I stared at her when I started preserving burnt meat. I looked and the Centaurides came and dropped the different varieties of food on the table. Food that we hadn’t seen in our lives before, except for the fish wish, was in the center of the table. They put water on the table and walked away. I looked at Lucinda. Her smile faded as she stared weirdly at the life octopus on the table. It was moving on the plate.
"Well, what do you expect them to eat? They are not humans, are they?" I remarked, and she stared at him in a manner that made her want to cry. She angrily dropped the spoon on the table, grabbing the attention of Apedes. He looked at us and looked away.
"I thought I was going to eat my heart out as I have starved for a long time, but seeing all this food makes me want to go back to earth." She grinned. Looking at him.
"I also want to go back to earth. We don’t belong here." I replied, and she took the jug full of water from the table and poured it into a cup on the table. She gulped the water and started drinking water continuously. I snatched the jug from her.
"It’s enough." I said, and she folded her hand. I put my mouth on the jug and gulped the remaining water in it. I felt refreshed, although the water tasted a little bitter.
I dropped the jug on the table and took a fork from the table and aim for the fish. I poked the fork into a slice of fish and put it in my mouth, tasting the fish. It was actually sweet although I was boiled, I tried to push my fork into another slice when my fork landed on the table. I saw the plate in Lucinda’s hand. She had started eating the fish. I weirdly stared at her and she looked at me with her mouth filled with food.
"What!!" she asked with her mouth dancing.
"I was the one who first wanted to eat the food."I whined, and she smirked.
"I didn’t see the fish at first, but thanks to you, I saw it." She grinned and continued eating. We finished eating, and the Centaurides came and cleared the table.
Author’s POV
Ralph and Lucinda stood up from the table and attempted to walk outside the house when Apedes blocked them at the entrance.
"Where are you going?" he asked, raising an eyebrow with other soldiers standing beside him.
"Thanks for your kind gesture, we will take our leave now." Ralph said he was trying to walk outside when Apedes prevented him from going out.
"You can’t leave until you see our king." He said.
"We will come and see him another time." Lucinda beamed.
"No, you won’t come back if I let you go, You must see him." He said and Ralph sighed.
