Chapter 38

Oh my goshhhh. I didn't realise that there were alot of errors in This particular chapter. It was almost like a disaster. I promise to edit before posting from now on. Sorry for the errors.

"I didn't think you would accept my invitation" Lagatha said calmly to Javier

"I was curious. I mean what could you possible want from me" Javier said with his legs crossed, looking at her intently, boiling in anger at the thought of Hattie being missing.

"Would you like a drink?"

"I know you did not invite me over for a drink" Javier blurted out

"Smart as always" Lagatha mumbled with a smirk on her face

"I want to let you in on a little negotiation" she added

"A negotiation from someone as corny as You, is like signing that deal with the devil"

"We are the devils, javier" Lagatha snickered 

"We just have different level to our wicked deeds" Lagatha added

"I would like to know what level you would obtain"Javier said with a sarcasm filled voice

"You may never know" Lagatha smiled

"What do you want?" Javier shot

"Relax, would you at least take my offer on having a drink to ease the already built tension" she offered but Javier just stared at her blankly 

"I want you to cancel the deal with Harry" she blurted when Javier wasn't saying anything.

"Hmm how crazy do you think I am?"

"Secondly, tell Harry to sign with my company instead" she added, totally ignoring him.

"And she still goes on" Javier said in a mocking tone giving off a resounding clap

"And you think I would do so because you said so"

"Javier darling. I would thing carefully before answering anything, if i were you"

"How adorable" Javier laughed in a bid to piss her off

"Just like Andrew. The both of you are crazy"

"You think you are tough?"

"You can't tell me what to do"

"Am sure you love your mother alot?" Lagatha smiled at Javier, knowing she had hit the right spot. She would have used Hattie as a bait but Hattie was no where to be found

"What do you mean?" Javier glared at her. If looks could kill, Lagatha would be long dead

"Exactly what you heard"

"Listen old lady, if you touch my mother, you won't leave to see the next day"

"Listen, first of all, I am not an old lady. Second of all, you know pretty well that I absolutely get what I want and you can't stop me"

"I would kill you through the most painful way a lashedta could ever die"

"Cancel the contract with Harry and save your self the trouble"

"You can't tell me what to do"

"You have a choice. Cancelling the contract Or your loving mother dies. Just pick one"

"Lagatha don't test me" Javier shot as anger ran through his vein. His breathing became fast as the anger built up within him

"Its simple Javier, just think about it." Lagatha smiled 

Javier hated the fact that Lagatha had him where she wanted. He always liked to be two steps ahead of the Cartels but this time, he didn't like how thing were going. He always liked to be two steps ahead of the cartels but this time he was helpless. There was no way he would leave his mother to die because of a contract. And there was no way he would turn down a contract because lagatha asked him to. That would show wickedness and if he shows weakness, the cartel would use That as an advantage to take everything he has, starting from Hattie, then his mother or even Bella. He couldn't let that happen so there was no way he was choosing any of the option. He would just have to outsmart her

"Hattie was right, you really are a witch"

"Don't call me that" Lagatha said with a venom filled voice. The best way to piss a lashedta off was addressing then as a witch.

"Now listen to me. I don't answer to you or any body. You can't order me around"

"Are you sure about that?"

"I would protect my mum, just the same way I protected Hattie"

"And where is she now" Lagatha snickered

"What do you mean" Javier asked. For Lagatha to make such statement, she must have found out that hattie was missing. There was a chance that she could be holding Hattie hostage just like Fay

"She is missing, isn't she?"

"Do you have her" Javier banged his fist on the desk in anger

"Calm down, gentleman. I want her too but turns out your little princess ran away from you"

"She did not run away. She wouldn't run away. You and psychotic son must have taken her"

"You call my son psychotic?" Lagatha laughed

"We both know that You can be worse. You are just trying to mask it up to make you seem like the good guy"

"You don't know me"

"I know you more that your mother. I knew you from birth so you can't pretend. Deep down you know you are a monster but you are just masking it up for the sake of your love for Hattie"

"I don't care what you think. I want Hattie back home in less than 24 hours or else the outcome would be drastic" he said and he could see how fear flashed in her eyes

"Pass that message unto Andrew. Tell him am coming for him" javier said as he finally vanished 

His aim was to go to California to check on his mother first. He knew that Lagatha wasn't harmless, she would do anything to get what she wanted. She was that desperate

Javier breathed in as he knocked on the front door, knowing that she was inside. It was dark outside and he predicted the time to be around 7/6 pm. He rang the door bell at the same time, knocking on the door. He knew his mom would be surprised. He didn't mean for the involuntary visit, but with the way Lagatha was on about hurting her, He had to keep her on his side. 

He waited impatiently by that door, tapping his finger nervously at the door. The door opened and his mother came out. He heaved a sigh of  relief at the sight of his mother. At least he knew that Lagatha hadn't gotten to her yet. 

His mother looked kind of surprised on seeing him 

"Javier?" She called out still surprised 

"Mother" He flashed a warm smile

"Oh my goodness, I missed you so much. Why did you come without telling me, I would have prepared a nice meal"

"I just wanted to surprise you" of course Javier couldn't tell her about they whole Lagatha thing and how he teleported from Chicago down to California.that would sound so absurd 

"Where is you luggages?" she asked

"I didn't bring any" he didn't plan on staying anyway. He would just get her to agree Into going to chicago. He would put her in a deep sleep and teleport her there 

"aren't you staying?"

"No, am leaving soon"

"Why?"

"Mum can I at least go inside. It would be better than being interrogated in the front door of your house"

" oh sorry. Come in" she offered, stepping aside for him to pass through the door

"What about Bella?" She asked immediately he entered

"She is alright"

"Sorry I didn't call often" she admitted 

"Its okay, it's just your nature" Javier teased

"Are you staying?"

"No"

"Really? staying for a while won't be a bad idea" she said sitting in a couch opposite the one he sat on.

"Yes. I came here to take you with me to California and am not taking no for an Answer"

"Javier we talked about this. I am not going to chicago"

" Why are you so on about still staying in California, dad is already long gone. And you are already moving on with Felix so what is the big deal?"

"That's the point, I can't just leave felix. We are planing on making it official"

"Whatever you do, have it in mind. That boy can't be my step father" Javier said laying more emphasis on the boy to prove a point

"He is not a boy, he is 32 for goodness sake" Anne shot

"And I am older"

"Doesn't matter"

"Whichever way, you have to come to Chicago with me" Javier stood his ground

"I already told you"

"Fine then tell your boyfriend to tag along"

"We like it here in california"

"For heaven's sake, why?" Javier asked almost losing it

"Why do you even want me in Chicago?, I remember asking Bella  if I could visit and her reply was no, so I don't understand the suddenly change of plans 

"Am not Bella" of course, Javier knew why Bella would have turned her down In the first place. Her, staying in Chicago with all the chaos going on, would be very dangerous but right now, he had no choice  other than to bring her to the chaos. That would be the only way to keep a close eye on her to prevent blood thirsty Lagatha coming for her

"Javier am not going"

Why was she this stubborn. He knew it would take a lot to convince her into coming to Chicago And he didn't want to use his powers on his mother.

"So You are just gonna turn this down?" Javier spoke in fustration 

"Absolutely" she said

"I could make dinner" she offered in a bid to change the topic

"No need, am leaving" Javier said. Since she wasn't agreeing to his proposal he would just have to leave and watch her from a distance. He knew Lagatha might be hesitant in killing her beacuse of the outcome but he still wanted his mother to be by his side, so that he could shield her from any problem.

"So soon? you didn't even spend up to an  hours. Did you already book a ticket?"

"Mum, I initially came to take you to Chicago but you are being adamant about it so I have to be on my way"

"Have you booked a ticket?"

"You don't need to worry about that mother"

"At least, have something to drink. Oh my gosh I feel so guilty. You are leaving because I don't want to come over to Chicago?"

"If you would just come over to Chicago, you would feel less guilty"

"So this is a way of emotionally blackmailing me?"

"No mum, it's my way if telling you that I am leaving" Javier flashed a quick smile

"Fine, when is Bella visiting?"

"I do not know about that, I guess you would have to call her to come over. Bella hardly visits anyone"

"Typical Bella" Anne agreed 

"Alright, I would be going now, Javier said, standing up

"Are you sure you don't want to stay?"Anne said which made Javier chuckle slightly 

"No mum. Am not"

"Alright then, bye" she said as she watched him exit the front door.

Javier was greeted by the fresh air in the outside. He was really tensed. Hattie was missing, Fay was missing and Lagatha Is threatening to harm his mother.  Does the trouble ever end? He thought to himself. It had always been one trouble to another. He didn't even remember the last time he slept without having to worry about any thing. It was almost as if his life was turning upside down. And the problem came from both mother and son. Lagatha and Andrew.  A pain on his neck that he couldn't just wiggle away. He had to find a way of taking care of Lagatha so as to unable her hurt his mum. He would have killed her the moment she made the statement of hurting his mother  but Javier thought against it. She still had Fay and there was a possibility that she held Hattie hostage. So killing her would not be a best option for the main time. One thing he was sure of was, he would end every single lashedta the moment he gets what he wants.

Javier stood by the entrance for a while. California was indeed peaceful, he didn't remember the last time he ever felt this calm. He looked at the sky, looking everly beautiful. He wished they would take all his worries away. It was crazy though, the demon looking up to heaven, asking for a favour. That was his last resort. He wanted Hattie in his life again. He wanted everything to be normal again. He really wished that things were easily achieved
