Chapter 61

Hattie sighed in frustration as she stared at the police man in front of her. Mr Charles, she learnt about his name earlier. She really wished that they didn't have to tell the police about her return because now she had to answer all the questions that followed. It was something she had to because she planned on going back to work and making her return viral, was for the best. She didn't like the way people stared at her, each time she stepped out

She was just going to answer the police the way Javier told her to and she hoped that they wouldn't smell anything fishy

"When did you return?" The police man asked

"Yesterday" she said and the police jotted down what she said. She didn't want to tell him the truth about when she really came back because that would only call for more questions.

"You were reported missing as about 20th of November, would you care to explain what happened"  the policeman asked looking intently at her

She sighed, trying to give off a sad look. She needed to appear as convincing as possible

"I was kidnapped" she said faintly

"How were you able to escape from a kidnap without then police" he squinted his eyes as he looked at her in confusion"

"They were planning on selling me to another country, but thank gracious I was able to escape before it happened" she said with the sad look not leaving her face. She was a psychologist, so stuffs like this were her specialist. She could easily pull it off

"were you able to see their face, through out your stay there?"

"No I wasn't" Hattie shaked her head slightly

"Any idea, how many they were? "

"No I could not tell how many they were because they were alot"

"hmmmmm" the police officer sighed and placed his hand under his chin, looking at Hattie intently

"I will call you back. I have to discuss something with the investigation team" he said and she stood up from where she was seated. She walked out of the room and she hoped that she had done a good job in convincing him.

Javier looked at Hattie who layed peacefully on the bed. He brushed the strands of hair that was on her face, exposing her beautiful pale skinned face. He couldn't stop staring at her and the thought of him leaving her soon, made him him heart broken. If he could spend the rest of his life with her, them he would gladly do, but a beast like him didn't deserve her. Hell was his home and that was where he was going.

The interrogations from different police officers really wore her out and Javier could sense it. They finally decided to make her return viral and the numerous interview she was getting was just so infuriating.

Javier had gathered up the courage and told her what the deal was. She was so devastated that in a split second, she was on the floor. She had been unconscious ever since for over an hour and Javier was patiently waiting for her to get up. His heart ripped into thousands of pieces as he looked at her. He couldn't stand the thought of ever living but then again, there was nothing that could be done about the current situation

Hattie tilted her head to the other side and the migraine she felt was excruciating. She slowly opened her eyes and she came faced with Javier. Immediately the memory of what happened began to flood back into her memory and the pain was unbearable. It was hard to believe. It wasn't something that she thought would happen to her. Why was her life like this. Nothing good ever lasted

She stared at him unable to utter a word. The tears just kept coming down slowly as her heart felt empty

"Hattie" he called out softly and held her hands slightly but she withdrew her hand from his reach and placed it on her stomach. "Hattie" he called out again.

"Don't fucking call my name like that" she said shakily as a result of the fact that she was bawling her eyes out. She stood up from the bed and was about making her way our of the room when Javier held her by her arm and she came to a halt.

"Listen to me"Javier said with softened eyes. "Please" he begged

"There is nothing to listen to, don't you see?" Hattie couldn't do it. Talking to him would only make her more heart broken. Javier was going to leave her after all the moment they shared.

"There is alot we need to talk about, There is alot that we haven't said"

"I can't talk right now Javier" she said and it was true. She wasn't in the right state of mind and talking was not something she wanted to do. She just wanted to cry her eyes out for some few hours

"Why did you make such a deal?" she asked

"I didn't have a choice"

" don't you dare say that!" She yelled. "Did you even think of me when you were making that decision.  Did your think of the way I would feel? Do you realise how heart breaking it is for me. I feel suffocated" she cried with reckless abandon

"Hattie calm down" Javier said calmly

"Don't fucking say that to me! I can't be calm Javier. Why would you do that"

"I did it for you Hattie. Andrew took you away from me and I was desperate "

"Look what desperation has caused the both if us. You should have thought of another way"

"There was no other way Hattie, don't you see?"

"Going to the devil was the best you could think of?"

"Yes Hattie, yes and i did  it for you" he said and Hattie lost it. She slapped him across the face with the tears pouring freely from her eyes

"What did you suppose I do. Leave freely, knowing fully well that Andrew has you?" Javier voiced out angrily.

"You should have never thought of leaving me" Hattie sobbed hard

"I wasn't given an option"

"Why does it have to be always me. Everyone! Everyone! Why does everyone just find away of leaving me. I thought I was finally going to be happy. After everything you did to me Javier. I forgave you whole heartedly. The least you could do is stay. But no, you wanna leave me too"

"I am not the best for you and you know it"

"No Javier, I don't know it. If you aren't the best for me then nobody can ever be. Can't you see that I have fallen in love with you!. I fell in too deep, I can't get up" she said, pacing around the room.

"And I love you too, but there are certain things that are not meant to be. You are and I are not compatible. We might be in love with each other, but the truth still remains the same. I am a demon and you are a human. I want you to be happy and I most definetly do not want to you to spend your after life in hell. Hell is our home. The home of demons, not angels like you.  I think this departure is for the best" he said and Hattie became shot of words.

"Why you?" Hattie said sobbing hard. Her voice was raspy and almost unrecognizable.

"It is destiny Hattie, but I really wish my destiny was a little bit different.  All my life, I never really knew the meaning of happiness. It had always been a den of sorrow, depression, misery and unhappiness, until I met you" he walked more closer to her and held her by her hand. "Words can't explain, How much I  love you, Hattie"

Lagatha staggered as she made her way through the thick darkness. She tripped a few times, as a result of her wobbly, weak legs. Her breathing was rapid and short as she continually gasped for breath.

Lagatha needed answers and she was going to meet the only person that could give her the answers that she needed.  She had being growing weaker and weaker by the day and she feared the worst. She just needed to ask mephistopheles, Why she was sick. It was quite unusual for a lashedta to fall sick. She had ignore the symptoms at first, but she realised that her body was not making any improvement, instead it kept going weaker and weaker by the day.

She felt like her whole life was falling apart. Adriel was no where to be found. She heard from Hudson that both Lawson and Andrew was dead. She was furious, but she was not capable of doing anything. She decided to wait until she got better, but that day wasn't approaching. Hudson ran away too and she came to realise that the girl she kept hostage was gone too. Hudson hid it away from, probably out of fear. Her life was all over the place and she couldn't do anything about it.

She stood at the heart of the place, squinting her eyes to see through the thick darkness. She was also losing her powers so it was kind of hard to see effectively in darkness.

"Lagatha" she heard her echoed all over the place and she knew that it was mephistopheles. She bowed slightly

"Yes master"  with a faint voice.

"I have never seen you so submissive. What happened to your arrogant, fierce self" he said from behind her and Lagatha turned to face him.

"I can never be arrogant to my master" she said bowing slightly

"What do you want?"

"Some certain thing that happened has awakened my confusion" Lagatha stated

"Go on" he said and waved his hand slightly, signalling her to go on with her question

"You made me a lashedta and we are beings that show no weakness but I have come to realise that I have been getting weaker by the day and I can't seem to decipher the cause"

"Hmm" mephistopheles signed, he walked toward his throne and sat down on it, with Lagatha waiting patiently for a reply.

"For a gift to be received, a gift has to be given" mephistopheles said and Lagatha looked at him in confusion

"But I have not asked for anything" she stated in confusion

"But someone did" mephistopheles said but she was still confused.

"I don't understand master"

"A deal was made by another lashedta and your life was put on the table"

"I don't still understand, are you saying that a lashedta made a deal with my life" Lagatha asked, boiling on the inside

"Exactly" mephistopheles said and one could see the satisfactory smirk on his face. Master of deceit. He really loved the way things were going and Lagatha knew it

"What can i do about it?" Lagatha asked softly

"Nothing" mephistopheles replied to plainly and Lagatha hated his non chalant, wicked attitude.

"Can't I ask for a reverse" Lagatha asked

"No you cannot. The deal was already made and countering it will only bring inabalance to nature" he smiled. He was lying and Lagatha could sense it. He was the father of lies after all. No truth could ever be found in his tongue. She really wanted to show her anger but she was too weak to even raise her voice above a whisper.

"Which lashedta did this?" She asked as anger conveyed in her heart. The tone in her voice didn't really match up the anger that she felt inwardly

"It would  be less fun if I told you, I think you should find out yourself"

"Why would you fulfil such deal" Lagatha asked

"You have no right to question me. You have been a very naughty disciple and it's high time you come back to your origin" mephistopheles's voice echoed through out the place

"I should have know " Lagatha voiced out in regret
