I Guess You Didn't See This One

Lanre looks at the shoe. There is no doubt it catches her fancy, but will it be worth it. She felt is not strong enough to carry her weight. “Lanre this is good, you can actually have it”. Lanre looks at Ify, then she looks to Anita. “I also think it is nice! Perfect!” Anita said putting up a thumbs up. Lanre looks back at the shoe. “Will this thing support my weight?” Lanre asked. “You can try it on if you want”. Said the attendant. Lanre took the shoe and wore it. She liked it. And she was able to balance perfectly well on it. The shoe was really made strong. She asked the attendant how much it cost. The attendant told her it was forty five thousand naira. Lanre took a good look at the shoe.

“This shoe is good, but you know if I hit it on the floor, it will be gone right?” Lanre asked. “Ma’am it is of high quality and won’t break. We do not sell fake things. Sazzy’s place is the best when it comes to shoes. We offer only the best”. The attendant replied. Lanre smirked. “That means I am free to hit it on the floor. You have given a guarantee it won’t break. Meanwhile, if it shatters, I will pay you three thousand naira for this shoe, but of it doesn’t, you get fifteen thousand naira”. Lanre said raising the shoe up. She intended to use force on to hit the shoe on the floor.

“Lanre!” Ify half yelled whereas Anita was quite fascinated by Lanre’s character. Just then that Lanre would have hit the shoe on the floor, she felt a hand holding hers up.

“Don’t do that!” She heard. She looks at the stranger in front of her. “Why? Are you the shop owner?” She asked. “No!” He replied. He tall man who’s skin Was like chocolate yet with a glow said to her. He had noticed that she was about to hit the shoe on the floor so he stopped her.

“So, why are you not minding your business? Why hold my hand up?” She asked. He used his free hand to collect the shoe from her hand. Then with a smile on his face showing off a perfectly fitted dimples on his cheek, he said, “I could not watch you hit a shoe I will be paying for on the floor”. Lanre laughed. She felt it was the funniest joke she has heard that morning. Not even the comedy skits she had watched could compare.

“See me see yawa o!” She exclaimed. “Water when de person hand, other person de put mouth say naim him wan drink (A cup of water in my hand which I’m yet to drink, that is what other has decided to drink)”. She said in a parable. The young man laughed. “I like your sense of humour Miss!” He said giving her a wink. Then he offered her a royal blue, red bottom high heel. “I guess you didn’t see this one”. He said.
