Lanre looked at the one he was holding. She liked it. But she turned her face away and folded her arms together. “I want the one you just took off my hand”. She said. “Why don’t you take this one?” The young man said. Lanre shook her head. “You choose a shoe I am holding for your girlfriend, and you offer me other because you think other’s don’t deserve the best”. Lanre said.
“What makes you think I’m getting it for my girlfriend?” He asked. Lanre looks out him. She was not going to answer that. She was not going to say more than she felt necessary.
The young man handed the blue shoe together with the glass shoe asking the attendant to package the two together and gave her his card to withdraw the amount for both shoes from it. Lanre looked surprised. “You are unbelievable and cheap”. She said. The young man frowned. “Do not say that to me ever again”. He said to Lanre. She scoffed and told him there will be no next time for her to talk to him, so he should enjoy her goodly words in disguise.
“Let us go. The shop keepers here are not loyal”. Lanre said to Ify and Anita. Then she turned to leave. The young man grabbed her hand. “Don’t you want to wait to see who my girlfriend is?” He asked Lanre. She tried to push off his hand from hers with her free hand. But he stopped her.
Lanre has been trying to free herself off his grip. Ify would have helped but she didn’t because Anita said are would love to see the outcome of the drama.
Soon the attendant walked in with the bag in which she has packed the shoes which the young man has paid for. “Give it to the lady”. He said. “Which of them Sir?” The attendant asked confused. He let go off Lanre and told the attendant to give it to her. “A beauty like her deserves good things”. He said. Lanre stood shocked. Was he giving it to her. Like he was paying for her. So why the whole drama? She wondered. The attendant handed her the bag but she refused to take it. “Why are you giving it to me? What will you give to your girlfriend?” Lanre asked.
He took steps closer to her. Then he whispered into her ears with one hand placed on her waist carelessly. “If you are meaning to know, then I will keep it simple. I’m as free as a bird, but if you want, for you I can stay”. His breath greasing her ear. She felt a tingling sensation that made her wasn’t to freak out. But she had to keep her cool. She smirked. “Too bad you are only a regular flirt. You should stick to taking flights”. She said. He smirked and moved away from her. Then he told them good bye walking out of the shop after getting back his card.
