Madam Is Not So Wicked

Aaron stepped in to stop Sharon from hitting Chidinma. He reminded her that Chidinma was special to Lanre and if she touched her she could end up losing her job if not getting scolded.

“Madam no de wicked like that na! (Madam is not so wicked)” Sharon said pulling away from Aaron. Just then Lanre came in.

“What’s going on?” Lanre asked. Everyone immediately acted like nothing happened, whereas Lanre was sure there was an argument because she had sensed it in the atmosphere.

Seeing Lanre was looking at them suspiciously, Aaron decided to tell Lanre immediately about Ify’s presence in the beauty parlour when she was gone. Lanre made an “oh” sound without saying anything further. She asked Chidinma to go get her other bag in the office for her. Chidinma did as Lanre asked.

“Sharon, I hope you are not being a bully to Donna? She lost her parents, try know how to treat people like her. Be a big sister to her rather than being antagonistic”. Lanre said.

Chidinma brought Lanre’s bag. Lanre collected the bag from Chidinma, then she opened it and took out her debit card. She asked Chidinma to return the bag to her office and left. It seems she had forgotten her debit card and had come to collect it.

Lanre got into an Uber that was waiting for her outside. “Let’s go!” She muttered. The Uber driver got on the road as she had instructed. She scoffed as Aaron’s words kept coming to her.

“A lady was here just a few minutes ago. I’m not sure it’s been up to ten minutes she left. She said she’s your friend, Ifeoma Ochuzi”. Aaron had said that to Lanre relaying Ify’s message to Lanre.

Lanre thought she was doing well to hide from Ify, but it seems Ify has come to find her. She wondered how Ify got to find her. Then she face palms herself. It must have been her mother who told Ify where her Beauty Parlour was located in. Thankfully her mother was yet to know the place she lives in.

Lanre bit her finger while entertaining the thoughts in her head. Her mind went back to a month before now. She was lying down feeling suffocated when she received a credit alert. Seeing that huge sum of money was deposited into her account, she feared it was someone who had wrongly sent money into her account. She feared for the person who was supposed to receive the money and for the person who had wrongly channeled his or her money to the wrong account.

What Lanre never expected was to be paid the sum of five million naira just to stay away from Kehinde who happens to be the son of the current governor of Lagos state. It had annoyed her so much that she planned on putting the money into good use. She will insult them with the same money they used to insult her. She kept telling herself she will go beyond them.
