Lanre held unto the seatbelt with one hand and the other held unto the head rest of the seat she sat on. She felt horrified. K was driving at high speed and she really can’t tell where he’s taking them to. And she was already tired of screaming and shouting for him to stop.
K noticed the fear in Lanre but he did not slow down one bit. He just kept driving on high speed until they saw good bye from Lagos. Lanre gasped when she read it.
“Where the hell are you taking me to? Stop this car now”. Lanre ordered. But K did not heed her. He kept driving. She pulled her hair feeling frustration sink into her blood.
“Kehinde what is wrong with you ni? Please stop this car or you reverse back. How can you drive us out of Lagos?” She asked. K asked her to shut up so he could concentrate. But she was not going to keep her mouths pinned down now. She screamed asking he to pull over. K abruptly stops the car parking at the corner of the road.
“Shut up!” He yelled. This scared Lanre. She almost crawled into her shell if she had one where she could hide. Seeing that she was no longer talking, K resumed driving. While Lanre kept quiet for the rest of the journey, one she had no clue about, neither where they were heading to or when they will arrive there.
It was an extra one hour thirty minutes drive after they had left Lagos they got to a stop. Lanre realised this late that they be were now in Ondo state and that too in the capital city Akure.
Lanre bit her lips. She was far from home now. She wanted to ask why he had brought her this far away, but decided to swallow her question up. She just made sure she avoided eye contacts with him.
K seemed to be checking something on his phone. Lanre didn’t care to know. But soon she got to know that he was using Google map. She wondered where he was going to using Google map. After about 30 more minutes, she found out where he was going to using Google map, “a hotel”. She gritted her teeth. She wondered what gave him the guts to bring her to a hotel.
“Are you meeting up with someone or what?” Lanre asked but got told to get down. She sat down glued to the seat. She was not going in with him.
“Can you please cut the drama and step out already?” K said to her giving her deadly glare. Lanre opened the door and got down from the car. She could not believe that her day would turn out to be like this. And she was so sure there is no way they will be going back to Lagos until the next day. It was already late. She just followed K into the hotel while fuming inside.
