All Things Equal

Christian led Lanre back to seat on the couch after the cleaner came to clean up the mess on the floor. Lanre sat next to Christian. She brought out her phone as though he was not there and in his presence downloaded a game from play store. After which she began to play the game. Christian yanked the phone from her hand.

“You came to see me, and now that I’m free you chose to play game. You must be funny”. Christian said to her. She eyes him disapprovingly. Then she relaxed on the couch, her head completely resting on it. Her facial expression showed she was tired.

“You do not look too good. Are you sick? You better not be because you do not have up to three months to make K abandon his fiancée anymore. You only have two months now”. Christian said to Lanre. She looks at him disinterestedly.

“I’m sick! I’m sick of everything even before I start. I do not have a good feeling about this. It’s as though something bad will happen. Besides, why am I fighting for someone who doesn’t even know what he wants?” Lanre blunted out. Christian held her hand.

“Because you can correct him. Take it that you are helping Kehinde get out of a trap”. Christian said to her. Lanre asked him what trap but Christian told her he was not going to answer any further question.

“They will be going on a date next weekend. You should make yourself available”. Christian said.

“Let’s steal their date”. Christian said to her. Lanre was stuck at the use of the word “let’s”. Christian understood what was going through her mind.

“Kehinde is the jealous type. He will get jealous and want to come to you if he sees the both of us together just like last time”. Christian explained to her. She told him she hope he does not come to her.

“He is a confused bastard. I do not want him anymore. If I end up winning, he may still leave me one day”. Lanre said to Christian. This was her concern. K seem to be leaving her a lot. First he kept her waiting for him at home in Ibadan thinking he was going to show up even though a part of her forbade her from waiting. He never showed up and she got paid off instead. And now, he said he never wants her to get in touch with him again after taking her to Akure and making her act like his wife.

“Then you do not need to fear! You will always win, be it Kehinde or another prince charming”. Christian said. Lanre told him she does not believe in the existence of a prince charming. She told him cared less now about making him love her. She just want to ruin their relationship.

“I can’t have him, she won’t have him! All things equal”. Lanre said. Christian could see how distance she was from herself. He doubt she could even hear herself.
