Lanre finally ordered for an Uber. She could not get the one she usually patronise because he was busy so she called for another one. Pascal dropped off at Surulere, while Lanre was taken to her place at Igando. She got into her apartment and locked the door then collapsed into the couch in the living room.
“Tired.com!” She muttered and fell asleep with the twinkle of an eye. She may have not noticed how sleepy she was or that her body needed sleep. She woke up late in the morning to six missed calls. Two was from her mother who seemed to have called her way earlier before dawn. One was from Christian and the remaining three was from Okechukwu. She wondered how she never woke up to any of the calls. It was weird. And what was even more weird was how she still craved more sleep. But then, did she actually sleep on the couch? If Chidinma was here, Chidinma would have woken her up so she could go to her room.
Lanre stood up and left for her room. She took off her clothes and tied a towel on her chest ready to go have her bath. She felt like lying down for a little while to cool off the headache she was having only to find herself waking up from another sleep a few hours later and the headache getting intense.
“Ouch! My head!” She muttered. She forced herself off the bed and then went off to go take her bath. She realised how much enslaved she was to sleep that day. She kept asking herself if this was a kind of sleeping sickness. She had yawn countless times from when she left the bedroom to bathroom, took her bath and dressed up for woke which she knew she was already late for. She wondered how many of her clients must be angry with her for disappointing them in the morning.
But when Lanre arrived the shop, everything was already under control. She felt proud to have effective workers who she termed colleagues. She apologised to them go coming late and then went into her office feeling sleep looming over her like a shadow. She felt guilty that all she has been doing that day was sleep and now she was about to sleep again. She decided to do something to prevent herself from sleeping. She called her mother on phone to know why she had called that early in the morning.
“I just wanted to know how my daughter is doing”. The mother said to Lanre. Lanre pinched her forehead wondering if she should tell her mom she was fine or not. At the end, she chose to tell her mom she was okay.
“Lanre, Olamide wants to call you. Should he call?” Her mother asked. Lanre without thinking immediately pressed the end call button. She was not ready to talk about her brother or even talk with him. As far as she’s concerned, she does not have a brother.
