Lanre could feel her head hammering. She felt like someone was hitting her head with hammer. And the sound from her ringing tone was not helping matters. Lanre pushed the phone aside after silencing the call. But the call came in again. This time she decided to check who was calling and saw that it was from her shop. She hits her hand on her head only to regret having done that. She asked what was the problem.
“Ma, you have a few clients who came on the terms of emergency due to the fact that today is Saturday. About three of them said they want you to personally do their makeup”. Aaron said to Lanre over the phone. She frowned.
“Are we supposed to open today?” She asked Aaron. He told her that they were supposed to since it was Saturday and one of their busiest day. Lanre jumped out of bed. How could she not realise it was Saturday? She ran into the bathroom. She took her bath in a hurry and dressed up. She puts a call through to her shop telling them she would be there in a jiffy.
Lanre hurriedly took a motorcycle. On getting to the bus stop, she realised she has a car and should have called Tega to come pick her up. She face palms herself. As if in queue, she started having stomach cramps. She bit her lips to suppress the pain.
“Period hope you don’t come now! I can’t afford to host you today that I have work to do. Besides, since when did you start being this painful?” She muttered in pain whilst clutching her lower abdomen. She got on a bus while scolding herself for not calling Tega, for even forgetting she has a car.
She took three different bus before getting to her shop at Surulere. The first thing she did on arrival was rush into her office and straight into the convenience inside. She checked to see if the blood was already coming out, but there was none.
“Huh! Thank goodness I’ve not started flowing! But is this cramp not too much? And it keeps going and coming. If I can just feel all the pain once and for all so that when it stops, it does not reintroduce itself again”. She said to herself. Then she walked out and went to attend to her customers.
After doing makeup for the first three persons, it was left with the fourth lady. Lanre apologised to the lady for coming very late just as she had apologised to the first three ladies. The lady smiled at her and told her rather than apologising, she would appreciate she gets on with her work cause she was running out of work. According to the lady, she already missed the wedding of her friend. And now she only hopes she catch up with the reception as it was already 2 pm. Lanre told her she would try her best to make it snappy and beautiful as well.
