Switching Roles

Lanre sat down on a chair and crossed her legs. She placed her palm on her cheek giving Mimi that listening look. Mimi sat down as well. She asked Lanre if she was acting calm because she has found out she’s the Gossip Queen and was afraid of getting a bad name on social media.

“No! No, not at all!” Lanre answered. She told the Gossip Queen she does not really care what people say about her.

“If you notice, I never said a thing when it was all over the news that I’m a prostitute, why then will I bug myself with it cause you call me same when I’m not?” Lanre said to Mimi. Mimi gave her a thumbs up.

“After seeing the viral video this morning, I thought it would be nice to see you in person. I really wanted to see you in person to know what K saw in you”. Mimi said to Lanre. Lanre looked frowned. She did not want to hear K’s name. His name suddenly makes her sad.

“What possibly could the son of Governor see in me? And what video are you talking about?” Lanre asked. She has not seen the video Anita uploaded. Mimi scoffs. She asked Lanre if she was not aware of the video that has gone viral revealing her getting slapped by her ex best friend. Lanre was shocked. She had not seen it and had not really expected Anita to carry out her threats. But she did not allow the look of surprise to remain on her face for long. She laughed hysterically.

“Really? Wow! That video would possibly be the most watched video today then. How many views would it be by now?” Lanre asked looking as though she was only concerned about the views and the reaction of netizens.

“You are easily switching roles. I thought you were surprised just now? I wonder if you have been acting from the onset, or you just started acting?” Mimi asked. Lanre shrugs and gave her a wink.

“I didn’t get to thank you last when you stood up for me last time. Even though I didn’t say anything publicly, it got to me real bad. And then you came like a saviour, thanks!” Lanre said to Mimi. Mimi smiled and told her if she wants to thank anyone, it definitely was not her she would need to thank but the person who got her to do the job. Lanre asked her to tell her who the person is. Mimi smirked. She got closer to Lanre and gave her a pat on the shoulder. Telling her to figure it out herself. Then she told her to complete the makeup on her so she could promote her business by posting it on social media referring to her as the best make-up plug.

“You are not even sure yet if you will like my work”. Lanre said to her. She told Lanre she already see what she did on the three persons before her and she loved it.
